It’s time to GET READY for bushfire 🔥

To assist residents with green waste disposal Council will pick up greenwaste bins weekly during September. 🍃 🍁 👏

To help you get ready for bushfire season, we’ll be collecting green bins every week from Monday 31 August – Friday 25 September.

All residents will get two additional green bin collections during this time.

🚒 Thank you to those that came out to see us this morning. We had a great morning discussing all things bushfire, enjoying a snag and a look over the truck.

🔥 Thank you to our friends from SES, Fire & Rescue and Springwood Neighbourhood Centre that came out to visit the researchers and provide their input into bushfire safety resources.

💝 Big thank you to Blue Mountains City Council for letting us use the park. The park has recently had an upgrade with some great new equipment for the kids, tables, chairs etc if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth a look.

One of our young members Cameron was last week awarded the Order of Australia Association (NSW Branch) 2026 Youth Community Service Award from the Governor of NSW Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC for his volunteer work with our brigade.

GET READY -

PREPARE FOR BUSHFIRE WINMALEE! 🔥

Please come and see us this Saturday at the park in Bulbi Avenue, Winmalee (the park is between Bulbi Ave and Bundah Streets) to have a chat about your bushfire preparations and your plan if we get a bushfire.

Free sausage sandwiches, bushfire survival plans and giveaways for the kids. Come and have a look at the truck 🚒 and grab a selfie.

There will also be some researchers present. They are reviewing the state RFS community engagement materials. If you have any comments or suggestions for changes or new ideas this is an opportunity to discuss these.

Yesterday afternoon, Winmalee Pumper, Winmalee 1B and Fire and Rescue NSW Springwood responded to a large oil spill along the Hawkesbury Bends.

Crews worked together to contain and clean up the spill, making the roadway safe. One lane was temporarily closed while the clean-up operation was completed.

The Australian/NewZealand crews in America have spent the past 2 days undertaking induction training.

Today being engine, pumping and driving training.

Tomorrow morning Matt will head to the Little Giant fire near Washington and Paul to the Rocky Canyon fire north east of Salt Lake City.

Week 4 - St Columba’s School Cadets Program

This week was a joint agency effort with our partners from Police Rescue, Fire & Rescue and the State Emergency Service.

Each agency gave the cadets a walk through of their equipment and responsibilities.

The cadets moved into the practical skills for the afternoon with hose drills and pump operations.
