Tonight we held our Brigade AGM.

Congratulations to all members taking on roles for the coming year — both new and returning. Thank you for the time, commitment and hard work you’ve all put in over the last 12 months to keep our brigade running strong.

A big thank you as well to the representatives from District Office for attending tonight’s meeting and supporting our brigade.

We were also proud to receive the Premier’s Citation recognising the efforts of emergency service personnel during the floods over the past few years. An incredible achievement and a testament to the dedication of our members and wider emergency services community.

WISEMANS FERRY ROAD MAROOTA HAZARD REDUCTION
Just letting residents in the Maroota, South Maroota, and Sackville North areas know that a planned hazard reduction burn is taking place this Monday, 27th April. Crews have been preparing this approximately two-hectare burn, located between Wisemans Ferry Road and Haerses Road in Maroota, for some time now and will be taking advantage of the favourable conditions over the long weekend. Please be aware that smoke will be present throughout the area on Monday.

Key actions include:
Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
Remove washing from clotheslines
Ensure pets have a protected area
Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety
If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice

Today three members of Wisemans Ferry Brigade attended NSW Parliament House to represent NSW Rural Fire Service. And accept a flood citation for efforts during the flood emergencies during 2021 & 2022.

🎄 Merry Christmas from Wisemans Ferry RFS 🎄
Santa might wear red, but around the Valley we’re pretty partial to yellow 💛

While most of us are enjoying a BBQ by the river, a cold drink, and maybe one too many Christmas treats, our volunteers are still keeping an eye on conditions and an ear on the radio — because that’s just what we do for this community we love.

Thank you to everyone across Wisemans Ferry and the Valley for the waves, the chats, the thumbs-ups, and the constant support throughout the year. It truly means more than you know.

🔥 Mother Nature set the difficulty level to ‘Extreme’ today — so we need to play smart.
With a Total Fire Ban in place, it’s a firm ‘nope’ to flames, sparks, and anything that can heat up more than the weather already has.

🔥 EXTREME FIRE DANGER TOMORROW – TOTAL FIRE BAN 🔥

A reminder to everyone across Greater Sydney:
Tomorrow has been declared an Extreme Fire Danger day and a Total Fire Ban is in place.

Hot, dry and windy conditions mean any fire can start easily and spread rapidly.

❌ TOTAL FIRE BAN RULES
During a Total Fire Ban you cannot:
• Light or maintain a fire in the open
• Use solid fuel BBQs or fire pits
• Do general-purpose hot works (e.g. welding, grinding, cutting) outdoors
• Use machinery that may produce sparks unless you absolutely must—and only with proper firefighting equipment on hand

✔️ Please do:
• Avoid bushland and high-risk grass areas
• Reconsider travel through fire-prone locations
• Report any fire immediately to 000
• Stay up to date via the Fires Near Me NSW app and the NSW RFS website

We are on scene at the fire on Old Northern road between Old Telegraph road and Wisemans Ferry road. The road is closed. Please avoid the area.

Due to a bushfire in the area, Northern Road near Telegraph Road is currently blocked.

Please avoid the area if possible and use caution when driving nearby. Stay safe and follow official updates.

For everyone travelling Old Northern road, the road is closed between Old Telegraph road and Wisemans Ferry road, Maroota due to trees down on power lines. A detour is open down old telegraph road to Roberts road.
