Today, we celebrate the remarkable career of Kevin Freeman, who retires this week after 28 years of service to North East Water in a range of senior engineering leadership roles.

Kev's work has helped shape water and wastewater services across north-east Victoria, from new water treatment plants and sewerage schemes to major infrastructure projects that have improved public health, environmental outcomes and drinking water supplies for local communities.

His final project, the $83 million Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade, represents the largest investment in North East Water's history.

On behalf of our customers, communities, board and staff, thank you, Kev, for your outstanding contribution to the region. We wish you and your family all the very best for the future.

An Overflow Relief Gully (ORG) is a grated drain located outside your home, usually near the kitchen or laundry.

It acts like a safety valve, helping prevent sewage from backing up into your home during a blockage or flooding in the sewer system.

Check your ORG regularly to keep it clear and working properly. For tips, visit newater.com.au/org.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner, to our Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade today.

The visit was organised by the Wodonga Council, and provided an opportunity to showcase the progress being made on this $83 million investment and the long-term benefits it will deliver for our customers, communities and the broader region. During the site tour, the Governor learned more about the innovation driving the project and the future opportunities the upgraded facility will help unlock.

We were proud to highlight the work of our team and construction partners, and the significant investment being made to support regional growth, sustainability and prosperity.

Thank you to Her Excellency for taking the time to visit and learn more about this important project for north-east Victoria.

πŸ’§ Behind on your water bill? We're here to help.

If you're finding it difficult to pay your water bill, please don't wait for reminder notices to arrive. The sooner you contact us, the more options we may have to help.

If a bill remains unpaid and we don't hear from you, we may need to take further action, including reducing the water flow to your property. While you'll still have access to water for essential needs, it won't be enough for normal day-to-day use.

That's why we encourage anyone experiencing financial difficulty to get in touch early.

πŸ“ž Call our team on 1300 361 633 to discuss the support options available.
