North East CMA is proud to support the Wangaratta Waterway Ecology - Managing tall vegetation workshops on Thursday 1 October.

Natural wetlands in southeastern Australia commonly include a component of Phragmites australis (Common Reed), Typha spp. (Cumbungi) or Juncus ingens (Giant Rush). These tall macrophytes provide important habitat and ecosystem functions.
Determining when management is appropriate and justified, and the most effective methods to use in natural wetlands (where excavation is not an option) can be challenging. Many attempts to control these taxa have not been monitored limiting the ability to share learnings.
Please join Fiona Sutton for an in-depth workshop on managing vegetation in these waterways. Fiona and her team have undertaken a literature review and held interviews and workshops with waterway managers and ecologists to synthesise the latest knowledge regarding the biology, ecology and management of these taxa.
This event is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, the Victorian Government, and Melbourne Water, under the guidance of the Arthur Rylah Institute (ARI), with the support of One Tree Planted, City of Ballarat, Coliban Water, Zoos Victoria, and catchment management authorities.

It's promising to be a huge day of culture, community, learning and fun for the whole family! North East CMA is proud to be supporting a special 50 years of deadly NAIDOC Week celebration on Sunday 20 September at Wodonga Gateway Lakes between 10am and 3pm.
Live entertainment will feature The Brother Boys, Jarrod Buckley and The Muir's. There will be cultural dance performances by Wagarra, Maliyan Mob and The Glorious Kids.
Get involved with spear making and throwing, paper boomerang making, headband making, ochre painting and weaving.
There will be a Flying Fruit Fly Circus workshop, MAMA Arts workshop, ADF obstacle course, indigenous games, Defence Force and police vehicles.

North East CMA is proud to be facilitating - alongside Sustainable Farms - a workshop on Friday 4 September - 10am to 1pm - about Protecting and Enhancing Your Farm's Natural Assets - remnant vegetation and paddock trees.

The workshop, hosted by Wodonga Urban Landcare Network, focuses on this important natural capital that supports pasture health, shelter and biodiversity.
Learn how to identify and protect the natural assets already on your land, and access information on how to enhance those assets, including how to choose the right plants for your revegetation project.
This workshop will include a presentation and a farm walk to help you make informed choices for your property and highlight the biodiversity benefits of different farm natural assets with a focus on remnant vegetation.
This project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.

North East CMA is proud to be joining Landcare groups from throughout Victoria at this week's 2026 Victorian Landcare Forum at Pakenham in Melbourne.
Among the early speakers is member and Chair of Landcare Victoria Jane Carney.
The forum runs until Wednesday with a mixture of plenary sessions and concurrent streams, as well as an exhibition hall.
A highlight will be the forum dinner on Tuesday night and a series of regional tours on Wednesday.
