Are you embarking on a winter road trip adventure this King’s Birthday long weekend?

It is always better to arrive late than never to arrive at all.

If you are driving around Victoria or any of the other Australian states remember that speed, fatigue, distraction and intoxication by alcohol or drugs all increase your risk of being involved in a motor vehicle accident.

While driving on the roads this long weekend we ask everyone to please:
🚨Drive to the conditions
🚨 Take your time and have regular rest breaks during long journeys
🚨Plan what you are going to do
🚨Think about everyone in your lives that could be effected by what you are doing
🚨Think about everyone else around you that could be effected by what you are doing

We don’t want to meet you by accident.

Today on International Firefighters Day/St Florian’s day (the patron saint of firefighters) we celebrate all firefighters around the world be it career, volunteer, urban, rural, forest or industrial who all contribute to keeping their communities safe.

Sadly on this day we also remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting lives and property which includes one of our own Arthur Popple, who passed away from injuries sustained fighting a grass fire in the Mernda area in 1958

To all firefighters, thank you for your service
