Experience Wollombi: new tourism hub lures visitors to the lower Hunter Valley region
Wollombi, the quiet achiever in the lower Hunter Valley region, has welcomed a new addition to its village – the town’s first-ever activity hub and Experience Creators. Hunter Valley GetAbout @ Wollombi is a new tourist business aim
ing to create new and unique experiences and activities for holidaymakers visiting the gateway to the Hunter Valley. With the motto “We create it, you live it”, the Experience Creators have rallied together with other local businesses to create new and unique experiences. This month, Hunter Valley GetAbout @ Wollombi will host its inaugural Murder Mystery night at a local vineyard Undercliff Winery. The ongoing monthly event will host up to 30 people at the winery for a night of murder and intrigue alongside a three-course meal and wine tasting. Other experiences on offer include Living History Tours~ A Dead Set Spooky tour experience around the historic village with a twist. Experiences also created, mountain-biking adventures, vintage-style picnics, delicious hampers to take away and explore, health and wellbeing treatments in a Tipi, private wine-tasting events and beer and spirit tours around the Hunter Valley Wine Country. HV GetAbout is forever changing and is now a new style of packaging pop up, the new tourism hub is already seeing plenty of interest in the events it has on offer, says Jo Potter founder of Hunter Valley GetAbout @ Wollombi.
“We want to get the word out about Wollombi and all the fantastic things we’re doing here,” says Jo. “People often pass through the village on their way back from Lovedale or Polkobin, and once they arrive they wish they had more time to spend. We have the southern-most commercial vineyard in the Hunter Valley region and we’re only a two hours’ drive from Sydney. The accessibility of Wollombi is what makes it such an easy weekend getaway for Sydneysiders.”
