Wollongong City Council is proud to partner with Animal Welfare League NSW and the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council to offer free cat desexing for eligible residents from 17–20 August 2026.

Desexing helps improve the health and wellbeing of cats, reduces unwanted litters, and supports responsible pet ownership throughout our community. 🏡🐾

To be eligible, you must:
✅ Live within the Wollongong Local Government Area
✅ Hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card or Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN)

We particularly encourage Aboriginal community members who meet the eligibility criteria to apply.

Places are limited and applications are essential.

🎊BILLIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!🎊

🐾 HOW IS BILLIE STILL WAITING? 🐾

We're genuinely surprised that Billie is still looking for his forever home.

This handsome young guy came into our care in April and was featured for adoption back in June, yet he continues to be overlooked. We honestly don't know why.

Billie is everything you'd want in an adventure buddy. At just 1 year old, he's energetic, confident, smart, and always ready to get out and do something fun. Whether it's a morning run, a bushwalk, a training session, or a game in the backyard, Billie is happiest when he's active and spending time with his people.

✅ Great with large, confident dogs
✅ Eager to learn and please

💜🐾 Adoption Update: Nala (formerly Clementine) 🐾💜

Nala was adopted by Teneeka and her son in December 2025, and it sounds like she has settled beautifully into her forever home.
Teneeka recently shared this lovely update with us:

“My son and I adopted Nala, formerly known as Clementine, back in December 2025 and I just wanted to give a little update.
Nala has settled into a peaceful life. She is extremely talkative and loves my son and I so much. We gave her the name Nala because she is a strong leader, and every time we introduce her to other cats — and even dogs — she makes sure everyone knows she's the strongest leader!” 😸💕

It sounds like Nala has become the queen of her household, filling her home with plenty of conversation, love, and confidence. We absolutely love hearing how well she has settled in and how much she is adored by her family.

🎉🐾 1000 ADOPTIONS AND COUNTING! 🐾🎉

Last week, we reached an incredible milestone – our 1000th adoption! ❤️
What makes this achievement even more special is that we've reached this milestone in just over two years since our service began operating. In that time, 1000 animals have found loving forever homes, 1000 families have welcomed a new companion into their lives, and countless happy endings have been made possible through the support of our community.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has chosen to adopt from us and give an animal a second chance. Every adoption changes a life, and this milestone would not have been possible without you.

A special thank you goes to our amazing foster carers, whose dedication, patience, and love help animals thrive while they wait for their forever homes. You play a vital role in every success story, and we are so grateful for everything you do.

We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together in such a short time and are excited for what the future holds. While we're celebrating 1000 adoptions, we're already looking forward to helping 1000 more animals find the loving homes they deserve. 🏡❤️
