WA… Narelle’s still keeping everyone guessing 😵💫🌪️
She’s already popped up over the Northern Kimberley, bringing heavy rain, gusty storms and some heavy falls up to 166mm in just 24 hours.
Now, our friends at the Bureau say Narelle's moving offshore and could redevelop into a tropical cyclone tonight, tracking parallel to the Pilbara coast over the next two days and potentially intensifying into a severe Category 4.
But Narelle’s exact path is still uncertain, with the latest modelling suggesting she’s likely to curve around the Exmouth coast before turning south to southwest from Friday. From there, there’s a range of possible scenarios — Narelle could cross the coast further north, or track further south towards areas between Geraldton and Perth over the weekend.
One thing’s for sure… it’s going to be wet and wild, with much of the southern half of WA likely to see impacts including heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts and dangerous conditions along the coast including large waves and coastal erosion.
Now is the time to prepare:
✅ Review your cyclone plan
✅ Pack an emergency kit with food and water for at least 5-7 days – pets included 🐶
✅ Secure loose items around your property
✅ Travellers and tourists – consider leaving the warning area
And do emergency services a favour and stay away from floodwaters - even if you reckon your trusty 4WD can handle it, it's just not worth the risk!
