West winds Community Centre - "The welcoming heart of the Channel"

Here at West winds we aim to create an environment that provides support and services to connect people in the community, reduce isolation and loneliness and build partnerships. The Community Centre is available for community programs, commercial kitchen hire, room hire, Gym, Wombats Occasional Child Care, Community Shed, Op Shop

, Art Lounge exhibitions, library and Community Transport Vehicle. We have a full program of activities including Art, Craft, Pilates, Gym Classes, Tai Chi and other health and wellbeing classes, U3A, Probus, Eating with Friends, Seniors Social, Jazz & Blues events and much more! Services available include No Interest Loan Scheme, counsellor, physiotherapist, and Online Access Centre. Annual events include a Working Bee, Channel Challenge fun run, Lantern Parade and Christmas Community BBQ. If you are interested in joining a class or running your own community program please contact us. Or perhaps you are interested in volunteering? Come and explore how you could be part of West Winds.

Expressions of Interest | West Winds Community Centre Board

West Winds Community Centre is a thriving community hub, powered by people who care about their community and want to make a difference.

We’re inviting people from across our community to explore how they could contribute to West Winds and help strengthen the programs, services, opportunities and connections we create together.

Our Board helps guide West Winds, but being a Board member isn’t about having all the answers or years of experience.

It’s about bringing your skills, knowledge, ideas, connections and perspective to an organisation that is already making a difference in our community.

Could you be part of it?

You might:
• care about our local community and the people who live here;
• bring skills, experience, knowledge, connections or a different perspective;
• enjoy sharing ideas and working with others;
• be interested in thoughtful, informed decision-making;
• be curious about how community organisations work and grow; or
• want to learn, contribute and be part of something meaningful.

You don’t need previous Board experience or to tick every box.

We’re interested in what you know, what you care about and what you’d like to learn.

Mentoring and supported pathways into community leadership will be available, with opportunities for people new to Board roles to o learn alongside experienced community leaders.

 We want our Board to reflect our community;
the board is of the community.

 You can contribute in many ways;
we'd love to hear about your skills, experience and interests.

 Come and meet us;
chat about roles, possible pathways and mentoring.
