Kaye Payne & the Delightful Devas: A Sell-Out Celebration of 10 Years of Jazz at West Winds

West Winds was buzzing with excitement as a full house gathered for the sold-out performance of Kaye Payne & the Delightful Devas, marking a special milestone: 10 years of Jazz at West Winds.

Guests were treated to an outstanding afternoon of music, led by the tantalising vocals of Kaye Payne and supported by an exceptional ensemble featuring Matt Ives on drums, Randal Muir on keyboard, and Derek Grice on Sax. Their professionalism, musicianship, and warmth created a memorable atmosphere that had the audience captivated from beginning to end.

A highlight of the event was the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge Heather and Graeme Bird, whose dedication and vision have brought more than 25 high-quality jazz and blues performances to the Southern Channel community over the past decade. Their commitment has created a much-loved cultural program that continues to connect people through outstanding live music.

The celebration was made even more special thanks to the many volunteers and supporters who worked behind the scenes. Special thanks go to Christine Worley for providing a delicious selection of treats and anniversary cakes, bartending duo Ian and Sue for keeping guests refreshed throughout the afternoon.

We also extend our gratitude to Hui Tocker, who designed and beautifully framed commemorative posters celebrating ten years of jazz at West Winds, creating a lasting tribute to this remarkable achievement.

Front-of-house duties were expertly managed by Alan Stock and his daughter Emma, whose welcoming presence helped ensure guests enjoyed a seamless experience. Appreciation is also extended to the many volunteers who assisted with event setup and pack-down, as well as venue caretakers Phil, Leanne and Felicity, whose support helped make the event such a success.

The afternoon was a fitting celebration of a decade of music, community, friendship, and culture. Judging by the packed venue and enthusiastic audience response, the future of jazz at West Winds remains as vibrant as ever.

🎷✨ A wonderful achievement for Heather and Graeme. Ten years of consistently delivering quality live music in a small regional community is something truly worth celebrating.
