🐒🌿 Happy International Primate Day!

We might be a little biased… but primates are definitely some of our favourites here at Wildlife HQ!

We’re proud to be home to one of the largest and most diverse collections of primates in Queensland — from tiny Pygmy Marmosets and Cotton-top Tamarins to Spider Monkeys, Baboons, Gibbons and more!

With so many different personalities (and plenty of cheekiness!), there’s never a dull day with this crew.

Today we’re celebrating them all and the incredible primate species around the world.

🐾 International Painted Dog Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating one of Africa’s most incredible and endangered predators — the African Painted Dog!

Here at Wildlife HQ, we’re home to a bachelor pack of seven brothers — Aren, Chike, Duma, Lazaro, Niru, Otto and Mutazz.

Painted Dogs are incredibly social animals, living in close-knit packs with strong bonds between pack members. And just like their name suggests, each dog has their own unique pattern of black, brown, white and gold markings — no two are exactly alike!

Sadly, African Painted Dogs are one of Africa’s most endangered carnivores, with wild populations threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, conflict with people and disease.

International Painted Dog Day is a chance to celebrate this incredible species and raise awareness of the importance of protecting them in the wild. 🌍🐾

🌵🐢 Cactus is on the menu!

Our three Radiated Tortoises have an incredible story. Native to Madagascar, they were rescued from the illegal exotic pet trade over a decade ago, before eventually making their way to Australia and calling Wildlife HQ home.

Today, life looks very different for these three — including happily crunching their way through plenty of cactus, and by the sound of it, it’s definitely a favourite!

Radiated Tortoises are Critically Endangered in the wild, threatened by habitat loss and illegal collection for the pet trade.

We’ve shared plenty of updates on our maned wolf pups lately… but they’re not the only babies keeping us busy!

Meet Peanut and Cashew, our adorable 5-week-old Brazilian agouti pups! 🤎

These curious little youngsters are becoming more adventurous each day as they continue to grow and explore.

Native to the rainforests of South America, Brazilian agoutis play an important role in the wild by burying seeds, helping forests regenerate and grow.

Keep an eye out on your next visit—you might just spot Peanut and Cashew exploring! 🥜✨

Four weeks old already! 🐺🧡
Our three maned wolf pups are growing beautifully and becoming more curious by the day. They’re starting to venture to the entrance of their den and take in the world around them, while mum Eartha continues to do an incredible job.
We can’t wait to share more milestones with you as they grow!

Exciting News at Wildlife HQ!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our beautiful maned wolf, Eartha, has welcomed three healthy pups!

This is an incredible milestone, not only for Wildlife HQ but also for the conservation of this remarkable species in Australia.

We’re especially proud of Eartha, who continues to prove herself to be a wonderful mum. These are the second litter she and Eberado have produced together.

Congratulations to our dedicated animal care team, whose commitment and hard work have helped make this wonderful achievement possible.

Welcome to the world, little ones! 🐾❤️
