Students have on offer a diverse curriculum that is taught by expert teachers who are passionate about their subjects. Students have the opportunity to undertake the study of traditional academic subjects as well as an extensive Vocational Education and Training program and alternative paths of study. Our school offers specialised elective subjects throughout the junior school, including Forensic
Archaeology, Circus Skills, Rockets and Race-cars and Film-Making. In 2015, Woonona HS will be implementing the region's first HSC acceleration program for the Visual Arts. This is designed to cater for outstanding or exceptional students whom we can confidently expect to receive an "A" grade in Years 9 and 10. The introduction of a highly successful Enrichment Class for our most able students in Year 7 has led to the implementation of enrichment classes in all core classes Years 8 - 10. Students, teachers and parents involved have commended the initiative and feel that it has made a difference to the learning of the students. In 2016, our school has decided to introduce another enrichment initiative to run parallel to the existing enrichment class - the Capa Enrichment Class. From 2016, our school welcomes applications from students enrolled at our school for Year 7 for the Capa Enrichment Class. We are confident that this program of study and the academic and creative environment at Woonona High School will foster your child’s talents and open the door for them to achieve their very best. Woonona High School has a proud history of high-level sporting achievement across a variety of sports.
