Fire Hydrants πŸš’

Did you know the fire hydrant near your home or property could be crucial in an emergency?

Making sure hydrants are easy to see and access helps our crews respond quickly when every second counts. A few simple things can make a big difference:

* Keep grass and weeds trimmed around the hydrant
* Avoid parking in front of it
* Don’t let bins, garden beds or other items block access
* If you notice any leaks or damage, report it to your local council
* If posts or markers are missing then contact local council

For any above ground issues contact the East Gippsland Council by sending an email to [email protected]

By helping keep hydrants clear, you’re helping us protect our community.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe ❀️

Last night our members attended a training exercise at the Wy Yung Pub alongside a multiple of our neighbouring brigades, simulating a major structural fire responce. πŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

Crews worked through a range of key skills including safe door entry procedures, search and rescue techniques, and effective use of radio communications. Members also practised deploying monitors to cool the roof, utilising the Field Operations Vehicle (FOV), and setting up a staging area to support incoming crews.

The exercise also covered hose line advancement, sectorisation, crew leadership, and maintaining situational awareness in a dynamic environment. We had quite a few members have the chance at being Incident controller and Sector commander rolls, which was a valued learning lesson too for the upcoming leaders.

Training like this is invaluable in ensuring our brigades can work together seamlessly and respond safely and effectively when real incidents may occur πŸ”₯

A fun night for all and a big thank you to all brigades involved for their time and commitment. A special thanks to Perry Brigade for bringing down their Ultra Heavy Tanker to show members what an awesome bit of gear it isπŸš’

Another big thank you to Wy Yung Pub for allowing us to use this awesome facility as well!

Training Exercise – Wy Yung Pub Tonight πŸš’

Members of the brigade and neighbouring brigades will be conducting a scheduled training exercise at the Wy Yung Pub tonight.

Please do not be alarmed if you see multiple fire trucks, emergency vehicles, and personnel in the area. This is only a training scenario designed to help our crews maintain skills, improve response capability, and ensure we are ready for real incidents!

We appreciate the community’s understanding and support while we carry out this important training πŸ”₯
