THE BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD FOR THE MIA DISTRICT BEGINS ON THE 01ST OCTOBER 2025 AND RUNS THROUGH TO THE 31TH MARCH 2026. THIS INCLUDES CARRATHOOL, GRIFFITH, HAY, LEETON, MURRUMBIDGEE AND NARRANDERA LGA'S.

❌There is no burning of any type of timber, wood, tree branches or vines from the 01st October 2025.

🛑Now is the time to prepare your property.

🛑You will need a fire permit from the 01st October, from then the burning of timber is prohibited, burning times and other restrictions will be enforced.

🔥Regardless of the time of year - If you’re planning to burn on your property, you need to let us know at least 24 hours before you light up. By providing notification at least 24 hours in advance of your burns, you inform your neighbours and fire agencies of your intent to burn. This helps prevent unnecessary emergency calls and fire brigade responses. You also need to let your neighbours know at least 24 hours ahead.

🔥Notifications can only be made for periods of up to 21 days to ensure the information remains relevant and clear to us and your neighbours.

🔥YOU CAN NOW NOTIFY YOUR PLANNED BURN ONLINE AT:

PLANNING A BURN ON YOUR PROPERTY?

It’s a great way to manage your land and reduce fire risk — but safety comes first.

Before you light up, you must notify both your neighbours and the NSW Rural Fire Service at least 24 hours in advance.

It’s quick and easy. Just head to rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

Giving notice helps avoid unnecessary emergency call-outs — and ensures our firefighters are ready when they’re really needed.

Plan ahead. Notify before you burn.
