Visited my new favourite shop "Bellyup Books" this morning. I had a great coffee and got me a book, sewing and crafting of course from me to me, called "Linen and Lace". Two of my favourite things. Whilst browsing with my great coffee in hand, noticed that there's a story writing competition for kids to enter. So, another shout out to all your creative kids to have a go and enter. For more information pop in and see Donna at BELLYUP BOOKS.

I thought it worth a shout out to let you all know so that all of your creative kids can get started on a "portrait of someone who is special to them; someone who plays a significant role in their life". Entries to be submitted by the 1st of May. Go to their website for more details.

Snuggles and Cuddles - that's what I've been making today. These patchwork pocket pillows are so gorgeous and so easy to make. I just love this sweet May Gibbs fabric.
If you would like to learn how to sew one of these then book in for a class; one2one or bring a friend with you.
*A variety of cushions are available at Bellyup Books in Dunsborough. Custom orders welcome.

A Patchwork Book Pillow - what a fun idea. Every little book worm would love one of these to pop on their bed with their favourite book or current bedtime reads. Great to take on holiday or in the car for a lengthy road trip.
These make an adorable gift together with a beautiful book in the pocket. For some fabulous children's reading books you MUST visit Bellyup Books in Dunsborough.
14" square pillow available to order $39.95
16" square pillow available to order $49.95
All pillows can be personalised with a child's name for an extra $20.00.
So versatile - another idea is to pop your pj's in the pocket too!

Sochi games’ press release: ”The Olympic patchwork quilt, developed by Bosco’s creative department and given to the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee, will be the official Look of Russia’s first Winter Games.

Our goal was to represent a diverse range of emotions and feelings, connecting concepts like Motherland, Family, Culture, Time, Olympism, Peace, Nobility, Friends, Memory, Honour, Dreams, Beauty, Freedom, Pride, Warmth, Happiness, Greatness, Reliability, Victory, Creativity, Hospitality, Creation, Future, Russia, Planet Earth.

Every region in the world is proud of its unique origins, and it is no different in Russia. That is why there are so many different local traditions, songs and crafts that highlight the individuality of their creators, each valuable in its own right. Bosco had a wealth of choices to represent Russia’s rich diversity, but in the end we settled on something familiar, warm and welcoming: the patchwork quilt.

In the concept design, every patch was infused with the history and personality of traditional crafts from each of Russia’s 89 regions: in a single tapestry we combined Uftyuzhskaya painting and Vologda lace, Gzhel and Zhostovo painting, Kubachi patterns and the flowers of Pavlo Posad shawls, Mezenskaya painting and Khokhloma, Yakutsk patterns, fabrics of Ivanovo and other distinctive Russian patterns. That is how we arrived at a modern, distinctive and unmistakeably Russian Look of the Games.”

Stirling Arts Centre, Bunbury is running a SUMMER SCHOOL of arts, crafts, music and health workshops. Today and tomorrow the kids are doing the African Drumming, rappin and slappin workshop...very excited! Yesterday we did the felting workshop which was fabulous and the day before we did a screen printing workshop which we absolutely loved. The photos tell the story!
Mostly though, I could hear my heart singing with joy as I watched theirs bursting with the sheer pleasure for creating and making. Sam made an Arab's headscarf, printed his t-shirt and did lots of prints on material scraps to make into something special. Holly made a printed piece of hearts and leaves in pretty pastels, to make into a cushion for her bedroom and printed a gorgeous t-shirt for a special friend. She had fun blending and mixing colours to her heart's desire. So satisfying!

We recently made the softest, almost silky play dough recipe. My kids love to mold and create with play dough but this would also make a great gift idea.

Dear Friends,

Firstly, thank you ALL for your genuine expressions of interest and enthusiasm for my new business The Yallingup Makery. It has been very exciting planning and preparing to open in readiness to run workshops this July School Holidays. Unfortunately, the premises I had hoped I would be moving into this week has fallen through. However, I dare not to despair as these things do happen and I will find another suitable premises I'm sure.

Please be advised that I will NOT be holding the July School Holiday workshops and for this I am very sorry. I was so looking forward to them and with chin up I will look forward to them in the future. I'm not going to give up that easily.

Thank you ALL for your understanding and I wish you a wonderful holidays with your gorgeous kids!

Big warm hugs,

Heidi Goldstone
