Have your say!
Building on actions already undertaken by the community, government and other agencies, this draft Plan sets out proposed priorities and actions for medium and longer-term recovery following the January 2026 Bushfires.

💬 We want to know whether it reflects local needs, practical barriers and what matters most to fire-affected communities and the wider Shire.

✅ Your feedback can help shape:
- Council-led recovery actions
- The timing and priority of recovery work
- Advocacy priorities
- Community-led recovery initiatives
- Communication and community support

📅 Feedback closes at 5.00 pm on Thursday 17 September.

While the risk of H5 bird flu in pets is extremely low, it's best to take precautions.

If you're out walking your dog or spending time outdoors:

✅Keep dogs on a lead in areas with native wildlife
✅ Don't allow pets to investigate or eat dead animals
✅Stop cats from roaming and hunting wildlife

These simple actions help protect pets, wildlife and curbs the spread of disease.

If you suspect H5 bird flu in birds, mammals, poultry or other captive birds, report it immediately by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888 or to DEECA online.

People who are over 65 or who have a disability are more likely to be affected by disasters, including home fires and bushfires. In Australia, 62% of the people who died in home fires between 2003 and 2017 had a disability.
CFA (Country Fire Authority) and FRV (Fire Rescue Victoria) are working together to reduce these unacceptable statistics.

If you work in the Aged Care and/or Disability Care Sector, this page is your hub to find what you are looking for.https://engage.cfa.vic.gov.au/projects/fire-safety-for-the-care-sector
Here you can find surveys, projects, resources, links, and information designed to empower service providers and support workers in enhancing home fire and bushfire safety for the people they care for.
