🌿🎓 CONGRATULATIONS JUNIOR RANGERS – COHORT 4 🎓🌿

What an achievement! 👏🏽✨ You’ve seen their graduation photos; now here’s pictures from throughout the 22 weeks working alongside our Senior Rangers and Stakeholders. 💚

GACRNTBC is extremely proud to congratulate our Junior Rangers – Cohort 4, made up of Yarrabah students attending Gordonvale State High School and Djarragun College; who have successfully completed their:
🎓 AHC21024 – Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management

This is a fantastic achievement for our young people and an important step towards building their skills, confidence and future pathways in Conservation, Land and Sea Country Management, Indigenous Ranger Programs and the environmental sector. 🌱🌊🐢

Throughout their qualification, our Junior Rangers worked through 15 nationally recognised units of competency – 2 Core Units and 13 Elective Units.📚

But this achievement is about much more than completing workbooks and assessments. 🌿

Throughout the Junior Ranger Program, our young people have had opportunities to develop practical skills, work together, learn on Country, gain an understanding of caring for our natural environment and see the different career pathways available to them within the Ranger and conservation sector. ✨

We are incredibly proud to see another cohort of Yarrabah young people gaining nationally recognised qualifications while they are still at school. 💚

This is only the beginning. Keep learning, keep growing and continue carrying that knowledge forward as the next generation caring for Country, Culture and Community. 🌊🌱

Griffith University’s research aims to assist
Yarrabah in co-designing a water quality
model using both Western and Indigenous
knowledge and science. 💦

Both Ranger groups GAC and GMY, Council Water Gang member King Jaban have sat down with Griffith University over the last few days to come up with a plan to test the water quality around community, the findings from the test will determine drinkable and bathable Creek Water. 🌱

We also hope to identify what sorts of bacteria are in our water and dentify causes of sore ears, eyes and skin sore from our water holes also compare the treated town water to our natural water ways. 🦠

Over the next few months Griffith University will train our rangers in water quality testing, so we can continue to keep community safe around our water holes and partner with council to educate community on safe drinkable and bathable water. ✅

Tomorrow, Gunggandji Aboriginal Corporation, together with Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council, will proudly lead the NAIDOC March from Bilma to Bishop Malcolm Park.

🕙 March starts at 10:00am

Come along, wear your NAIDOC colours, bring your family and friends, and let's stand together to celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC and the strength, resilience, culture and achievements of our people.

Investing in our people means investing in the safety of our community. ✅

Our teams took part in First Aid training to strengthen the skills and confidence needed to respond in emergency situations—whether in the office, out on Country, or while delivering programs across our community.

Keeping these qualifications current is an important part of ensuring we can provide a safe environment for our staff, participants, Traditional Owners, and visitors. ⛑️
