Yea High School was delighted to host our Time & Space – Mothers & Children evening for our Year 7 and 8 students and their mothers and female mentors.

It was a genuine pleasure to welcome Bill Jennings back to Yea High School. Many in our community will remember Bill’s work with our school following the Black Saturday Bushfires, when connection, reflection and conversation were more important than ever. We are grateful to once again benefit from his wisdom, experience and passion.

The evening provided a special opportunity for meaningful conversations, shared stories and strengthened connections. Feedback from students and parents highlighted the impact of the experience:

“It was good to get the time to talk and have conversations we may not have had.”
“I feel like I have rarely connected with Mum like that.”
“I thought this experience would be embarrassing, but I had some great conversations.”
“It was really nice being able to have that conversation with my son. A really authentic moment.”
“A lovely way to talk to your child about something you may not usually talk about.”

Thank you to Bill Jennings, our students, and all the mothers and mentors who attended and made the evening such a memorable and meaningful experience.

Today’s Blue Edge session we welcomed three local police offices Ash, John and Laura from Seymour, Yea and Kinglake police stations. Students completed the fitness tests required for entry into the police academy, followed by a Q&A with the officers.

A massive day organised by our brilliant student leaders, bringing awareness to to the incredible fight that many donate to and why the MND cause matters . We have many to thank for supporting us today, Murrindindi Shire Council, Yea Fire & Rescue - CFA and Nicole Ockwell, we can not thank you enough for your support today. As we prepare for tomorrow's MND awareness day, we are excited to welcome our students and staff to a day of togetherness, fun, and school spirit, culminating in a memorable experience for all, especially those taking the plunge into the dunk tank's chilly waters 🥶. Our student leaders have invested considerable time and effort into crafting an enjoyable afternoon, and we appreciate their hard work and dedication. Monday, we welcomed Bill Jennings, facilitator of the Time & Space Mothers and Children’s Program, who worked with our Year 7 & 8 students as they wrote special invitations to an important female figure in their lives for the upcoming evening event. It was wonderful to see the thought and care students put into recognising the women who support and inspire them. 🤩🥰
