We would like to say a massive thank you to St Lukes Yea in allowing us to apply for a grant to purchase a TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) for our Tanker.

This now boosts capabilities for our firefighters responding on our Tanker whether it be a bushfire, house fire or anything in between.

Once the camera was handed over to the brigade it was used in vital operations in the recent Longwood Fires and many other incidents we have since responded to!

We can’t thank St Luke’s for the opportunity and also Lisa Cooke for wonderful help in organising it for us!

To say we have been busy since the beginning of the year may be a bit of an understatement!

So far we have attended around 70 emergency incidents in 2026, thats nearly 2 calls a day for a brigade that only averages around 100 calls a year.

We are so fortunate to have such a supportive brigade (Firefighters, members and their families) that help out in anyway to make it possible to keep responding to these incidents. We are also lucky to have brigades from all around the state that step up when we put the call out to help crew our vehicles to ensure that we are there when the community calls upon us!

Apart from the emergency responses, we have also been busy in many other aspects. Whether it’s assisting within Incident Management Roles, attending community meetings or having a stall set up at community events!

Unfortunately, the fire season continues and it doesn’t look like slowing down as proven by yesterday’s fire at Trawool. Rest assured that we, like all other brigades around the state are ready to respond when the need arises.

Thank you to all our firefighters, brigade members, families, friends, workplaces and community for their continued support through this busy period!
