Yea Fire Brigade members were busy training on Sunday morning. The training session involved drafting water using Yea Tanker and also the quickfill pump (portable petrol pump for bulk filling trucks). With some equipment challenges, it also presented a valuable learning opportunity for members to practise problem-solving and adapt to changing situations. Regular training like this helps ensure our crews remain prepared, confident and ready to respond when the community needs us most.

2pm today AusAlert testing 🚨🚨

Monday 27 July 2026… are you ready for it? ✅

AusAlert will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested across Australia.

The national test of AusAlert is on Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST.

AusAlert has 2 types of alerts, depending on how severe the emergency is. The national test is a Critical Alert.

Critical Alerts override 'silent' and 'do not disturb' device settings, and they can’t be opted out of. When you receive a Critical Alert, it will appear like a system notification on screens and make a loud siren sound for about 10 seconds.

This is the highest level of warning. It means you may be in danger. You should act immediately.

AusAlerts contain important information to keep you safe and informed during disasters.

The only way to stop your devices from receiving Critical Alerts is to switch them off or put them in aeroplane mode. If you don’t wish to receive the AusAlert national test, do this before the test time in your location and leave them off or in aeroplane mode for at least one hour.

We’re testing Australia’s new national warning system, AusAlert, across Australia tomorrow as part of the AusAlert national test.

⏰ Set a reminder for 5 minutes before the test time in your location so you are prepared in case you receive it.

The national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.

See the test time in your location below:
🟢 Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🟡 New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🟢 Queensland – 2pm AEST
🟡 Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🟢 Victoria – 2pm AEST
🟡 Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🟢 South Australia (including Broken Hill, NSW) – 1.30pm ACST
🟡 Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🟢 Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

📱 The test will be a Critical Alert. Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds before stopping, even if it is on ‘silent’ or 'do not disturb'. The message will clearly identify itself as a test and no action is required. If you don’t receive the AusAlert national test, this is fine too, as it’s just a test.

📅 Save this post and set a reminder now so you know when to expect the AusAlert national test in your area.

AusAlert is being tested at 2pm on Monday 27th July. You’ll get an alert on your mobile device.

AusAlert is being tested at 2pm on Monday 27th July.
You’ll get an alert on your mobile device.

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.

It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.

AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.

What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
