Today, Monday 27 July 2026, the AusAlert system will be tested across Australia, with an alert being sent to all compatible mobile devices within NSW at 2pm.

If your device receives the AusAlert national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds before stopping, even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Recognising reconciliation week with Indigenous artwork on the Young Brigade RFS tanker

The Young RFS Brigade are excited to show off their freshly wrapped category 1 tanker. This artwork titled ‘One Fire, Shared Purpose’ was created for the NSW Rural Fire Service by Young based artist and cultural educator Stewart James . It visually represents the strength, unity, and shared commitment of the people who serve and protect communities across the Western Area.

The Young RFS brigade are excited about the addition of the artwork on their tanker and can’t wait to show it off at upcoming community engagement events around Young.

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Robert Quigg, known to many of us as Tex. It was Tex who first introduced us to the Black Dog Ride in 2022, a tradition we are proud to partake in each year.

The Young Brigade's heartfelt thoughts are with Debbie and their children during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Tex

With Severe to Extreme heatwave conditions developing across the district over the coming days, we are likely to see elevated fire danger ratings especially later this week. Thunderstorms which have developed over the past few days have started a number of new fires, property owners are encouraged to inspect there properties for new fires and report them to 000 immediately.
