Franklin House TAS Franklin House Facebook Account, Tasmania Built in 1838 for Britton Jones (himself and ex-convict), Franklin House is the only house museum in Launceston.

This rare colonial building includes a school and is surrounded by beautiful grounds including a Victorian kitchen garden. Special features of Franklin House include
- a collection of fine English period furniture, including a number of colonial pieces, musical instruments, including a rare stirrup organ, exquisite clocks, fine china and other objects d'art.
- an extensive English-style garden,

including the newly creating Victorian Kitchen Garden.
- for children there is the opportunity to participate in the Puzzle of Patrick's Pails. Patrick was the groom and gardener who worked for William Keeler Hawkes in the 1850s.
- light refreshments are available in a cosy tea room
- a gift shop contains local crafts and products including National Trust items and a range of Franklin House publications available. PRICES
