Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park Aṉangu welcome you to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, a living cultural landscape. Why did you remove my photograph?
(1751)

We love receiving your photographs and sharing them with others. However, sometimes we need to remove an image. If images posted on this page feature sacred sites, objects or images we will be obliged, as joint managers of the park, to take them down. For the park’s traditional owners, Anangu, an essential part of 'keeping the law straight' involves ensuring that knowledge is not imparted to the w

rong people. For example, some sacred sites may only be viewed by women, others by men, and some only by certain senior traditional owners. Under traditional law, Anangu care for these places as non-Aboriginal religions care for their churches, sacred precincts and relics. Under the direction of the park’s management plan, we will also remove images of the climb. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to receiving your beautiful pictures.

A reminder to visitors that temporary closures will be in place at Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa National Park in June for Sorry Business following the passing of a senior Aṉangu woman.

📍 Thursday 25 June: the park will be closed until 2 pm
📍 Friday 26 June: the park will be closed all day

Sorry Business is an important cultural grieving process that includes ceremonies and practices when someone passes.

These closures are in line with the wishes of Aṉangu Traditional Owners and community, the Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa Board of Management and the Muṯitjulu Community Aboriginal Corporation.

We thank visitors for their understanding and respect during this time.

For alternative things to see and do in the region during the closure period, please visit Explore Uluṟu and Visit Central Australia. We'll put the links to both in the comments.

The park will reopen at 6.30 am on Saturday 27 June.

Great news! The first stage of emergency repairs to the Uluṟu base walk is now complete. 🙌

Works around Muṯitjulu Waterhole and between Kuniya Carpark and Kuniya Piṯi now finished, following heavy rain and flooding earlier this year that caused washouts and potholes along sections of the track.

The second and final stage of repairs – focused on the Mala and Lungkaṯa walks – is expected to begin in early June and take around 2 weeks.

During this time, temporary diversions, signage and short-term track or areas closures may be in place while works are underway. Our team will be on the ground to support visitors where possible.

Please take care while using our walking tracks:

• Wear sturdy, comfortable footwear. 🥾

• Watch your step, be mindful of trip hazards and take your time. 🚧

• Stay on marked tracks and follow any temporary diversions. ➡

Thank you for your patience as we work to make the Uluṟu base walk a safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

Over four busy days in Adelaide, Steve Baldwin, Tourism and Visitor Operations Manager at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, took part in the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), Australia’s largest annual tourism trade event. 🌏✨

From daytime business appointments to evening networking events, Steve connected with international tourism buyers and industry partners to showcase the unforgettable experiences waiting in Australia’s iconic national parks.

Our stand conducted more than 80 meetings with interested buyers, many looking to expand their Northern Territory offerings and connect travellers with the landscapes, culture and experiences of the Red Centre. 🧡🌿

A key focus for Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park this year was the growing Chinese tourism market – understanding visitor motivations and ensuring the park can continue to deliver meaningful and memorable experiences. Steve also noticed a significant rise in independent FIT (Free Independent Traveller) visitors from China.

Alongside appointments with Chinese tourism buyers, Steve also met with operators and agencies from around the world, including France, Germany, Malaysia, South Korea, Finland, the Netherlands, India, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Chile. 🌍

The event was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen relationships with current operators, build new partnerships, and keep Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park firmly on the global travel map. 📍
