🎭✨ Lights, camera… Zeerust! ✨🎭

Today we’re rolling out the (imaginary) red carpet to welcome our fellow small schools to Zeerust for a Drama Victoria workshop — and what a dramatic entrance the weather has made… ☀️👏

We’re thrilled to be learning under the undercover area out the front (because nothing says “theatre” like a stage with fresh air and a top-notch breeze effect).

A big shoutout to Bec from Hot Lunch—serving up drama that’s slightly more nutritious than the usual lunch orders—and our very own Sally, who has swapped the classroom for the spotlight today! 🎬⭐

Expect big voices, bold moves, lots of laughs, and possibly a few award-worthy performances (or at least Oscar-level enthusiasm).

Here’s to a fantastic day of creativity, collaboration and friendship… and remembering that in drama, there are no mistakes—just very interesting choices. 😄

Welcome Harston Primary School, Undera Primary School, Lemnos Primary School, Ardmona Primary School—we’re so glad you’re here! 💛🎭

Sally has messaged to say that the bus from Somers is on track to arrive at 2.30 pm at the Shepparton Library today.

Apparently, the students are very excited to see their families (and Sally to see her fur babies!). I know the junior students can't wait for it to be home time tonight.

Our Year 5 & 6 students have been having a wonderful time at Somers Camp! They’ve been busy participating in a range of outdoor and team-building activities, building new friendships, and challenging themselves in new and exciting ways. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they step outside their comfort zones and make the most of this experience.

We are especially proud to share that two of our students have been awarded Golden Ticket Winner awards for their contribution to the Somers Camp community. This recognises their efforts in honouring the camp values of self, others and the environment. With only 30 awards given across 160 students, this is a fantastic achievement. Well done girls — you have made yourselves and your school very proud!

Students will return to the Shepparton Library at 2:30pm tomorrow, Wednesday, 20th May. We look forward to welcoming them back and hearing all about their adventures!

🌟 Week 5 at Zeerust Primary School 🌟

It’s a busy and exciting week here at Zeerust PS, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating Education Week! 📚✨

The juniors are heading out on an excursion on Monday, while our senior students are coming back from Somers Camp on Wednesday. Students will be enjoying hot lunches and taking part in a range of engaging sessions and activities across the week. We also look forward to hosting our cluster performing arts day on Friday—always a highlight! 🎭

We warmly invite our community to pop in and see the wonderful learning and experiences happening in our school. It’s a fantastic time to celebrate the value of education and the amazing things our students achieve every day.

Our current Year 5 and 6 students are lucky enough to be living their best lives at Somers Camp right now! 🌊🌲

This exciting opportunity continues a long-standing tradition, with 160 local students attending every two years — a tradition dating back to 1974, when 80 boys and 80 girls first headed off on a 10-day adventure.

For those wondering, Somers isn’t just any camp — it’s actually a Victorian Department of Education school, staffed by highly qualified teachers who are passionate about outdoor learning (and very good at surviving nine days of excited children 😄).

This year, Zeerust Primary hit the jackpot — every Year 5 and 6 student is attending, along with their classroom teacher, Sally (who may or may not be counting down the days back home… we’ll check later 😉).

Days at Somers are full-on, with students rotating through five different activities each day, each lasting an hour — so there’s never a dull moment (and hopefully plenty of tired kids by bedtime!).

We hope they’re making memories, building friendships, and maybe even remembering to brush their teeth without being told… 😅

Somers Camp - year 5 & 6 students

As our Somers Camp buses will be departing early tomorrow, could we please ask that all students attending camp bring a drink bottle and a small snack for the bus.

Students will be provided with food on arrival at Somers, however a snack for the journey will be helpful.

Please remember to be mindful of allergies — strictly no nuts, please.
