Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) participated in the 21st Plenary Meeting and Working Group meetings of the International Organization for Standardization's Technical Committee on Tourism and Related Services (ISO/TC 228), held in , .

The event convened experts, standardization bodies, and leading tourism industry representatives from around the world.

In the meeting, participants reviewed existing standards and discussed new initiatives across major tourism sectors, including hospitality, facility management, adventure tourism, sustainable tourism, smart destinations, online travel services, and the MICE sector.

The official opening ceremony of the Office of Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) in was held on 29 May, marking a further expansion of Azerbaijan’s tourism presence in the Chinese market.

The establishment of the office aims to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese tourism industry, increase awareness of Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings, and further expand promotional activities across the market.

Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is organizing a week-long roadshow across , , and from 22-29 May, featuring 6 tourism industry partners, including AZAL - Azerbaijan Airlines, to promote Azerbaijan’s tourism potential.

ATB is also participating in the international tourism exhibition ITB China 2026, held from 26-28 May in Shanghai, with a national stand featuring 10 tourism industry partners, including AZAL as co-exhibitors.

On the sidelines of ITB China, ATB was also recognised by Trip.com, a leading online travel agency, which awarded Azerbaijan with the “Must-Visit Destination 2026”.

During the visit, ATB also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with Tongcheng Travel, one of China’s leading online travel and lifestyle booking platforms.

Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) participates at the international educational and networking conference “Adventure ELEVATE Europe 2026” organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) held in , from 19-21 May.

Over the course of the event, pre-scheduled meetings are being held with tour operators and travel agencies from the global adventure travel community, providing an opportunity to promote Azerbaijan’s unique cultural heritage, natural landscapes, as well as outdoor and adventure experiences to a targeted audience.

Rail travel between and is back! 🚆

Starting from 26 May 2026, passenger transportation on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku railway route resumes, offering travelers a comfortable and convenient opportunity to discover the region through a scenic overnight journey.

Operated by Azərbaycan Dəmir Yolları - ADY, the route will feature modern sleeper trains designed to provide an enhanced travel experience. According to the initial schedule, trains will depart daily from Baku at 23:10, arriving in Tbilisi the following morning at 08:41, while departures from Tbilisi are scheduled at 21:00 with arrival in Baku at 06:24.

The railway connection will include stops at Baku, Bilajari, Yevlakh, G***a, Aghstafa and Boyuk Kasik in Azerbaijan, as well as Gardabani and Tbilisi stations in Georgia.

Starting from 00:00 on 25 May, entry and exit between Azerbaijan and Georgia by railway transport will be permitted for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as citizens of foreign countries eligible for visa-free travel to Azerbaijan.

The State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) are represented at the Azerbaijan pavilion opened at the “Urban Expo” exhibition, held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum ( ).

The national stand at the Azerbaijan pavilion provides visitors with insights into the country’s tourism potential, including cultural experiences, scenic hiking routes, winter tourism opportunities, and the “Victory Road” route.

Informative sessions on tea culture and birdwatching tourism are being held for visitors, while sessions dedicated to Azerbaijan’s wider tourism potential continue throughout the event.
