Chief Community Development Officer, John Hollingsworth says the Community Development Department, CDD, is willing to empower Barbadians and help strengthen communities to play a meaningful role in the new rapidly evolving digital economy.

He made the remarks at the CDD’s inaugural robotics programme graduation ceremony at the Courtyard Marriotts Hotel on Thursday, July 23rd.
Twenty students, including persons living with disabilities graduated from that programme.

Chief Community Development Officer, John Hollingsworth has described their World Cup Finals Watch Party at the Clapham Community Centre in St Michael as a remarkable success.

He says it was an initiative of the community’s Centre Management Committee which was formed just two weeks ago.

Mr Hollingsworth says the CDD was fully supportive of the idea and assisted the Centre Management Committee in tangible ways with over 150 persons attending the event to watch the final between Spain and Argentina, which Spain won 1-0 in extra time.

He says it helped “to foster a sense of community and togetherness adding that the Youth Development Department partnered with the CDD to ensure the initiative was a success.”
