Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre

Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Barbados and the OECS also provides support to the CTIC.

CTIC serves as an information resource from which government agencies, public and private stakeholders, partners and the general public can draw to implement tsunami and other coastal hazards safety measures to save life and property. The Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre (CTIC) is a partnership initiative between the Government of Barbados and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of

UNESCO (UNESCO/IOC). The CTIC is an organ of the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE EWS). The ICG/CARIBE EWS is comprised of Member States and Territories from the Caribbean and its adjacent regions, Observer Member States as well as Observer Organizations. We support national and community-level (last-mile) implementation to ensure that populations in vulnerable coastal areas are prepared and respond appropriately and in a timely manner upon recognition that a potentially destructive tsunami or other coastal hazard may be approaching.
