THE CONVERSATION CONTINUES

Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, and her team continued their engagement with the farming community, this time meeting with farmers at the St George Parish Church Annex Building, The Glebe, St George.

The meeting provided another opportunity to hear directly from farmers about their concerns, challenges and the issues affecting the sector.

The Ministry remains committed to listening, engaging and working with farmers as we move agriculture forward.

The possibilities are endless at the HOPE Agricultural Training Institute (HATI).

That was the message from Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, as she addressed students at a recent opening ceremony to mark the start of the 2026–2027 academic year at the institution in St Lucy.

Highlighting the important role young people will play in the future of agriculture, Minister Munro-Knight encouraged students to embrace the opportunities available to them at HATI, build their skills and explore the many possibilities within the agricultural sector.

Opportunities for young people in agriculture were among the areas highlighted by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, during a recent visit to the IICA Open Day at the Ministry’s headquarters in Graeme Hall, Christ Church.

During the visit, Minister Munro-Knight spoke about opportunities for youth to become more involved in agriculture and encouraged young people to explore the many career paths available across the sector.

Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, is leading the discussions, providing farmers with an opportunity to raise concerns, share their experiences and engage directly on issues affecting the sector.

Recently, the Ministry met with farmers in the south at King George V Memorial Park as part of the ongoing series.

Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, has reaffirmed her commitment to the continued development of Barbados’ apiculture industry.

Speaking recently at the closing ceremony of a beekeeping workshop organised by the Ministry’s Apiculture Unit, Minister Munro-Knight shared her vision for the growth of the industry and highlighted the importance of building capacity, supporting beekeepers and creating opportunities for more persons to become involved in apiculture.
