2. Establishes occupational standards and related qualifications for Barbados' TVET system

4. Serves as the Awarding Body for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs). NVQs and CVQs are certification that supports competence-based training and assessment. Competence based – i.e. standards based - training and assessment ensures young people and other members of the workforce are equipped with work-related or work-ready skills.
