On February 27, 2017, Bangladesh recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent state. A year later, on the same date, Kosovo and Bangladesh signed an agreement to officially establish their diplomatic ties. In August 2019, the Republic of Kosovo took a significant step by establishing its embassy in Bangladesh. The Republic of Kosovo's Embassy currently covers Bangladesh (residential) and th

e Maldives (non-residential). Concurrently, the Republic of Kosovo is covered by the Bangladeshi embassy in Berlin, Germany, on a non-residential basis.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, H.E. Kreshnik Ahmeti, received the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, led by Secretary Nazrul Islam, ahead of the second round of Kosovo-Bangladesh political consultations in Prishtina.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in economy, ICT, trade, and other areas of mutual interest, while exchanging views on current political developments.

H.E. Mr. Lulzim Pllana, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Maldives, today presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, at a formal ceremony held in MalΓ©, in the presence of the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State, and the Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Maldives.

On the occasion, Ambassador Pllana conveyed the greetings of the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Ms. Albulena Haxhiu, and reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to further strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. Following the presentation, Ambassador Pllana and President Muizzu, along with the Maldivian delegation, briefly exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and opportunities to further enhance bilateral cooperation. President Muizzu wished Ambassador Pllana success in his diplomatic duties and expressed his readiness to work closely together in advancing relations between the two countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close dialogue and advancing cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Maldives.
