New ILO report finds global youth unemployment rising, with some of the sharpest increases in higher-income economies and more young people outside employment, education or training.

The Global Employment Trends for Youth 2026 report shows that the global youth unemployment rate rose to 12.4 per cent in 2025, equivalent to 67 million unemployed people aged 15 to 24 years. At the same time, the share of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET) increased slightly to 20 per cent, affecting more than 257 million people. Some of the sharpest rises in youth unemployment have been in higher-income economies, frustrating the aspirations of millions of young people at the start of their working lives.

We are pleased to share the release of the ILO report "𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐱’𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫: 𝐀𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬" and its accompanying Policy Brief.

The findings highlight critical labour market challenges in Cox’s Bazar, including high underemployment, widespread informality, skills gaps, youth disengagement, and gender disparities. The publications provide evidence-based recommendations to promote decent work, strengthen skills development, expand economic inclusion, and support sustainable local development. We invite partners, stakeholders, and colleagues to explore the findings and join the discussion on creating better employment opportunities for all.

বান্দরবান, রাঙামাটি আর খাগড়াছড়ির পাহাড়ে বহু বছর ধরে কাজুবাদাম চাষ করে আসছেন সেখানকার আদিবাসী কৃষকেরা। কিন্তু চাষ করলেই তো হলো না, সঠিকভাবে পরিচর্যা, ফল উত্তোলন, প্রক্রিয়াজাত ও বাজারজাতকরণের জন্য প্রয়োজন সুনির্দিষ্ট জ্ঞান, যা এখনও অনেক চাষীর কাছেই অজানা। 🤔

এই বাস্তবতা বদলাতে আইএলও-র প্রোগ্রেস প্রকল্প, স্থানীয় সংগঠন TAHZINGDONG এবং কাজু প্রক্রিয়াজাতকরণ প্রতিষ্ঠান Kishanghor যৌথ উদ্যোগে প্রায় ১২০০ জন কাজুচাষীর সাথে কাজ চলছে বাজার সম্প্রসারণে। 🌱

In the wake of World Breastfeeding Week, we continue to promote nursing rights at work under Maternity Protection Convention No. 183.

To safely support mothers returning to work, our mandate sets clear standards for employers:
⭐️Maternity Leave: At least 14 weeks of paid leave and health protections.
⭐️Paid Breaks: Daily paid nursing breaks or reduced hours for milk expression.
⭐️Dedicated Facilities: Clean, private lactation spaces with cold storage (restrooms do not qualify).
