In Satkhira, we came together to mark an important transition of our Climate Bridge Fund (CBF) project - “Building Resilient Services and Infrastructure for Climate-Affected Migrant Slum Communities.” an initiative of supporting communities on the frontlines of climate change.

Over the past three years, Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh worked with climate-affected migrant families in urban informal settlements to strengthen resilience – through an integrated approach combining housing, livelihoods, WASH, and community systems.

At the heart of this work were Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with strong women’s leadership driving local solutions and collective action.

A key moment of the event was the formal handover to Satkhira Municipality, reinforcing local ownership so the progress continues beyond the project.

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Sheikh Mainul Islam Main, Administrator of Satkhira Municipality as a chief guest, alongside representatives from different departments of government, non-government stakeholders, and community members.

What stands out: when communities lead and local systems stay engaged, change lasts.

Building Trust. Strengthening Teams. Driving Impact. 💙

Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh successfully concluded the “Workshop on Building Trust and Achieving Results Together”, held from 07–09 April 2026 at Dream Square, Gazipur.

Over three days, colleagues came together for engaging team-building activities, strategic discussions, and cross-functional learning sessions. Key focus areas included SBP (Strategic Business Plan), Advocacy, MEAL, Housing Solutions, CFRM, Communication & Volunteer Programming, Resource Development and Strategic Partnerships, HR & LOD, Finance, and Safety & Security.
Beyond technical learning, the workshop emphasized nurturing team culture, strengthening trust, and reinforcing our shared commitment to achieving meaningful and lasting impact. Through interactive sessions, we enhanced communication, built stronger relationships, and deepened our dedication to serving families in need of safe and decent housing.

This was more than a team-building workshop—it was about aligning our purpose, enhancing our effectiveness, and ensuring that together, we can create even greater impact.
Together, we are not just working—we are building trust, fostering collaboration, and driving change where it matters most.

The Urban INGO Forum Bangladesh is a platform comprising more than 20 international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) working on a wide range of urban development issues across Bangladesh. The Forum envisions close collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh—particularly local government institutions at city and municipal levels—as well as relevant ministries, development partners, and both international and national organizations.

To reinforce this shared commitment, representatives from member organizations convened at the office of Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh (HFHI-B) on 2 April 2026 for their monthly coordination meeting. During the session, participants reviewed ongoing initiatives, discussed strategic priorities, and explored collaborative approaches to address key urban challenges.

The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-organizational collaboration, enhancing information sharing, and aligning efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive urban development outcomes in Bangladesh.

The Forum also agreed to organize its 9th Urban Dialogue, scheduled for June 2026. The event will aim to highlight community needs—particularly those of people living in informal settlements—to a broader audience, while further strengthening engagement among key stakeholders.

World Water Day 2026 | Where Water Flows, Equality Grows

Water is more than a basic need—it is dignity, safety, and a pathway to equality.

At Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh, we think that by contributing our time, expertise, and assistance, we can create opportunities rather than just homes.

From 1–3 March 2026, under the project Building Resilient Futures: Comprehensive Climate Adaptation for Climate Migrants and Vulnerable Populations, funded by HFHI OVG (Orphan and Vulnerable Group), Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) facilitated a structured orientation and capacity strengthening session with project implementing partner Uttaran in Satkhira Municipality. Over three days, the team aligned on implementation systems, technical standards, safeguarding, and community engagement—grounding gender-responsive housing, WASH, and livelihood components in field realities.

The exchange sharpened coordination clarity and reinforced readiness to deliver upcoming priorities across targeted informal settlements of Satkhira Municipality, including climate-resilient housing and upgrading support, inclusive communal WASH facilities and water systems, settlement-level improvements, hygiene promotion, and women- and youth-focused skills and livelihood initiatives.

Role Overview:
Lead HFHI-B’s strategic communication and volunteer engagement efforts to amplify impact, mobilize volunteers, and strengthen visibility. Manage digital platforms, create compelling content, and design meaningful volunteer programs that align with Habitat’s mission of ensuring everyone has a decent place to live.

Key Requirements:

Postgraduate degree in Communication, PR, Marketing, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field

Minimum 5 years in strategic communication, digital content, media relations, and volunteer coordination (development/nonprofit sector preferred)

Strong storytelling, social media, and digital fundraising skills

Proficiency in photography, videography, editing tools, and MS Office/design software

An estimated 122.6 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes as of June 2024*.

Every refugee carries a unique story; pain, loss, resilience, and unimaginable strength. They are not defined by what they’ve lost, but by the courage with which they rebuild their new lives. We mark World Refugee Day by sharing their stories of hope, strength, courage, of community, and to show solidarity.

“Before, when it rained, water would enter the house. Now, after putting up the tarpaulin, the rain doesn't come,” says Nur, a community member.

“It was broken,” says another woman about her home before repairs were made.

Although up to 80% of current refugees in Cox’s Bazaar have now lived in a camp for almost eight years since 2017**, there are restrictions limiting any repairs that make their homes more ‘permanent’ in Bangladesh.

Habitat strives to make a positive impact for families while still working within current restrictions, such as providing and installing tarpaulins to stop roof leaks and bamboo reinforcements to repair structures.
