Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) is a part of Bangladesh Forest Department currently funded by the Strengthening Regional Co-operation for Wildlife Protection (SRCWP) Project established in 2012. Main purpose of the WCCU is to control wildlife crime throughout the country. A Director with a rank of Conservator of Forest is the head of this unit. He supervises and co-ordinates matter related to w
ildlife crime control of the country. He will administer, supervise and control all wildlife crime control sub-units of the country through Border Units, seaport Units, Airport Units and other law and enforcing agencies. The border sub unit is located at Benapole, Akhawra, Heli, Boromari and Tamabil; The WCCU sub-unit will be located at Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Habiganj and Sherpur. The Airport Sub-units will be at Shahjajal international Airport, Dhaka. Osmani international Airport, Sylhet and Shah Amanat International Airport, Chittagong. The Sea Port sub-units will be at The Mongla Seaport and The Chittagong Seaport. Main objective of The WCCU is to stop wildlife crime across the country. People buying, selling, harming or disturbing wild animals or plants that are protected by law, to stop illegal wildlife trade, to save our wildlife and trophy, to make awareness campaign among mass people, wildlife traders like whole seller, permanent Shop owner, street hawkers etc.
