With immense pleasure, we are delighted to share the publication of Morphosis, the Yearbook 2026 of the Architecture Discipline, Khulna University. Featuring selected studio works from first-year to fifth-year thesis (Session 2023-2024), this edition reflects a journey of transformation, creativity, critical inquiry, and architectural learning. More than a collection of design projects, Morphosis celebrates the ideas, explorations, and evolving academic culture at ArchKU.

This publication is the result of the collective effort and support of our faculty members, students, and everyone who contributed to bringing this vision to reality. We hope Morphosis continues the tradition of documenting and celebrating the academic journey of the ArchKU for years to come.

We are delighted to share that alumni from the ArchKU representing team 'BioWave', have won the 3rd Prize at the "National Cleantech Award Ceremony and Innovation Showcase" among 641 applicants.

The programme was jointly organized by the SME Foundation and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Department of Environment.

The "BioWave" is a collective effort by Md. Sohanujjaman Sohan, Tahsin Rafid Nirob, and Fattah Ahmed (17 batch), along with Sourav Ghosh (18 batch). Inspired by the urgent challenge of plastic pollution and rising flood vulnerability in coastal Bangladesh, the project transforms plastic waste into eco-bricks and climate-resilient, amphibious housing systems for flood-prone communities. Through circular material processing, low-carbon construction, and flood-adaptive structural design, BioWave offers a scalable model for safe and affordable housing in the face of climate change.

We extent our heartfelt congratulations to the team and hope this accomplishment will inspire the team, as well as our broader academic community, to continue building solutions that are resilient, sustainable, and deeply responsive to the challenges facing Bangladesh.

We are delighted to share that Team ADC005 from the Architecture Discipline, Khulna University, received Special Mention at the “Threads of Time: Designing for an Intergenerational Community Space” Design Charrette, organized as part of the 30 Years Celebration of the Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).

The recognition was awarded to Md. Ashifur Rahman Omee, Nawmi Zarin Zayma, and Tasnim-E-Zannat from 23 batch (3rd year) of the ArchKU, for their proposal “Under Thread: Weaving Generations, Connecting Lives.”

The proposal reimagines the overlooked space beneath an urban flyover and transforms it into a vibrant, inclusive, and climate-responsive public realm. By turning an underutilized infrastructure corridor into a meaningful community space, the design creates opportunities for people of different generations to gather, interact, learn, and grow together.The jury appreciated the proposal for its thoughtful approach to adaptive urban reuse, intergenerational inclusivity, contextual sensitivity, and environmentally conscious design.

We are delighted to share that Team ‘ছায়া’ from the Architecture Discipline, Khulna University, has received the “Climate-Resilient and Disaster-Ready Public Space Award” in the “A Carbon Conscious Urban Design Idea Competition 2026.”

The competition was organized by UNOPS, UNEP, and RAJUK, in coordination with the Ministry of Housing and Public Works (MoHPW), and funded by the German Development Cooperation (BMZ).

The recognition was awarded for the proposal “Urban ‘উঠান’: An Urban Sanctuary Between Memory & Healing,” developed by Husna Zahan Tonny (M.Arch), Tanzima Akter Anka (M.Arch), Nusrate Hossain Sharna(ArchKU graduate), and Md. Mostakim Molla Metul(ArchKU graduate) with the supervision of Lecturer Md. Toukir Hossain.

Inspired by the traditional Bengali courtyard, the project reimagines a familiar cultural space as a climate-resilient public landscape for Dhaka through ecological water management, passive cooling, flood-adaptive design, and the use of low-carbon materials. The jury appreciated the project’s thoughtful integration of climate resilience, cultural identity, and community-centered public space.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement. This recognition reflects their commitment to design excellence, contextual sensitivity, and climate-conscious thinking. Term-End Exhibition of Studio II: Design Foundations
Year I, Term II

In this studio, our first-year students dove deep into the fundamentals of design and spatial organization. Through a rigorous six-project journey, they successfully translated abstract concepts into tangible architectural spaces.

The studio kicked off by defining space through the interaction of lines and planes in "Volume Without Mass". From there, students drew biological inspiration for "Space Regeneration" and extracted natural modules to craft continuous surfaces in "Biomorphic Envelopes through Fabrication". Shifting to formal geometry, they progressively transformed Platonic solids in "Nested Volumes" and analyzed the collision of primary forms in "Mass Joining". The journey culminated beautifully with "Moodscapes", an exercise in designing emotionally responsive spatial interventions focused entirely on the human experience across diverse environments.

Term-End Exhibition of Studio III
Year -2nd, Term- I

Throughout the term, students investigated anthropomorphic proportions, spatial relationships, and human-centric design approaches while responding to context, function, and user experience. The studio journey progressed through two projects- 1. Beyond Minimum: An Ergonomic Tiny House Prototype and 2.From Hand to Cup: Process-Driven Craft Café. Students have explored transformable living and process-driven spaces, embracing the integration of making, movement, and everyday rituals within architecture.

We have with us Ar. Iqbal Habib, Founding Partner & Director, Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd., as the distinguished speaker. In this seminar, Ar. Last week, the "ArchKU–Berger Award 2026" was celebrated as a proud occasion for Architecture Discipline, Khulna University, bringing together ArchKU and Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited in a shared commitment to recognizing academic merit and encouraging future architects.

As part of this celebration, 31 students of the discipline were awarded in recognition of their academic excellence. The event reflected a collective appreciation for dedication, creativity, and consistent effort in architectural education.

ArchKU extends heartfelt thanks to Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited for this meaningful collaboration between academia and industry. We also warmly congratulate all the award recipients and hope this recognition will inspire them to continue pursuing excellence in architecture and beyond.

We are delighted to share that our student Sattyajit Kundu (’21 Batch), has won the Silver Award at the AYDA Awards (Asia Young Design Award) Bangladesh in the ‘Interior Design’ category.

His award-winning project, “RED EARTH,” stood out for its thoughtful approach to adaptive reuse and its strong commitment to sustainability, showing how design can respond to real environmental and social needs while giving spaces a meaningful new life.
A warm congratulations to Sattyajit on this well-deserved achievement. We’re proud of him and wish him continued growth and success in his future endeavors.
