ON THIS DAY:
12th June in 1996, Kalpana Chakma was abducted by a group of military personnel from her home in Baghaichari. The accused Lt. Ferdous had lead the abduction. Its believed the she was killed after the abduction. For ones surprise Ferdous was later promoted in the military. We demand proper investigation and punishment for the accused military personnel. We will never rest.....

ON THIS DAY:
10th April in 1992 thousands of indigenous Jummo people were killed in massacre. Bangladesh military and bangal muslim settler jointly attacked Jumma villages in Logang under Khagrachari Hill District and killed thousands when people were preparing for the biggest festival BIJU. Sudden heinous attack led to a huge humanitarian crisis. Many people fled to neighboring India where many more died as an indirect effect of the massacre. Estimated killed alone in MASSACRE believed to be over thousand. No bangali muslim settler was arrested and no perpetrator ever punished.

গত বছরের বিজুর সময়ের ঘটনা। রাংগামাটি সাংস্কৃতিক ইন্সটিটিউতে আদিবাসি সাংস্কৃতিক মেলা চলছিলো। আয়োজক ছিল "ক্ষুদ্র নৃগস্টীর ইন্সটিটিউট"। ভালোই লাগছিলো অনুস্টাণটি। নানা ভাষার আদিবাসিদের গান উপভোগ করছিলাম যদিও প্রায় সিংহভাগই ছিলো চাকমা। হঠাত সাউন্ডবক্সে ভেসে আসলো বাংলা গান। একটি "উপজাতি" মেয়ে নানা ঢং দেখাইয়ে নিজের শুদ্ধ সুমধুর বাংলা কন্ঠে বাংলা গান গাচ্ছিলো। ভাবখানা এমন যে "দেখ, আমি কথতা বাংগালি!" কি জানি হয়তো কোনো একসময় এর পুর্বপূরূষ বাংগালী সেটেলার ছিলো। তো, উপস্থিত দর্শকরা যখন গলা ফাটিয়ে শিল্পী নামধারী "উপজাতিদের" বাংলা গান বন্ধ করতে বললো তখন একজন "ক্ষুদ্র নৃগস্টীর" কর্মচারি এসে দর্শকদের উদ্ধেশ্যে বললো, "এখানে শুধু পাহাড়ি নয় বাংগালিও আছে সুতরাং তাদের জন্য তো বাংলা গান গাইতে হবেই"। ভালো কথা, বোকাচোদা। তো, কোনো বাংগালি অনুস্টানে কোনো চাকমা গেলেই কি চাকমা গান থাকবে ওখানে? মারমা গান? লুসাই গান? আর বিজুর সময় বিজুর সাংস্কৃতিক অনুস্টানে বাংগালি গান গাওয়ার মানে টা কি? শোনেন, নতুন প্রজন্ম এখন নিজের ভাষা, সংস্কৃতির মর্ম বোঝে। নিজের স্বকীয়তা নিয়ে বাচতে চায়। বাংলা গান গেলেই এখন আর লোকজন স্মার্ট মনে করে না বরং হেরোইন খোর ভাবে। তো শেষ পর্যন্ত আয়োজকরা অনুস্টানটি বন্ধ করতে বাধ্য হয়। কে জানি আবার পানির বতল ছুড়ে মেরেছে স্টেজ লক্ষ্য করে। বেরসিক।
