The Embassy congratulates all the Jamaican athletes who participated in the 50th Allianz Memorial Van Damme, on the final leg of the Diamond League series held on 4th and 5th September 2026, in Brussels, Belgium.
Jamaicans placed first in 4 events (100m men and women, men's long jump and men's shot put).
We also acknowledge fellow Caribbean nationals, who also competed in several disciplines, including Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia, who won the women's 200m and with whom we were able to extend personal congratulations (slide 4)
Over the course of the Meet, the Ambassador had the opportunity to meet Annick de Ridder, the Flemish Minister responsible for Sport (slide 5) as well as fellow members of the diplomatic corps (H.E. Jose Lambour, Ambassador of Guatemala slide 6)
We express our appreciation to the organisers and congratulate them on the successful staging of the event.
