🇵🇼🇵🇼🇵🇼 Last week, I received a super nice and original gift from my brother-in-law, Tony: a bottle of champagne in personalized gift packaging. FYI: 228 km is the distance from the Honorary Consulate General of Palau in Belgium to Reims, the capital of the Champagne region.

To mark Bethanie's centenary, journalist Jan Brys wrote a book about the history of this unique neighborhood in Brasschaat. It's a beautiful reference work full of unique photos, fascinating anecdotes, and personal testimonies from residents.

I am particularly proud and honored that the Honorary Consulate-General of Palau is mentioned in it.

The Great Flagging of City Hall During the Summer Months

During the peak tourist season, from 15 June to 15 September, the City of Antwerp organises the Great Flagging. Throughout this period, City Hall is fully adorned with flags according to the following order and criteria, proceeding from bottom left to top right—first along the Grote Markt side, then along the Suikerrui side:
• The member states of the European Union, in order of their accession dates;
• The countries with a consulate-general established in the City of Antwerp;
• The countries whose honorary consulate is seated within the City of Antwerp;
• The countries whose honorary consulate is seated within the Province of Antwerp;
• The countries whose honorary consulate has jurisdiction over Antwerp;
• The countries whose honorary consulate has jurisdiction over the Flemish Region.
Additionally, the flag of the United Nations is prominently raised at the bottom centre on the Grote Markt side, positioned next to the balcony of the Schoon Verdiep. On the balcony of the first floor, the flags of the districts of Antwerp are also displayed.

On July 20, 2012, I had the honor of receiving my Exequatur and was officially authorized to assume my duties as Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Palau to the Kingdom of Belgium. It is a great personal honor to represent this exceptionally beautiful Pacific island, a paradise called Palau, in Belgium. Over the course of these thirteen years, I have had the privilege of serving under the leadership of three distinguished Presidents: Johnson Toribiong, Thomas Remengesau Jr., and current President His Excellency Surangel Whipps Jr..
