Last March, NECSTouR and Sociedad de Promoción Exterior de Lanzarote - SPEL jointly organised the Masterclass 'Empowering Destination Leaders to Deliver Sustainability', gathering 18 regions from 8 European countries 🌎. With immense gratitude, we look back at this event which brings us another step further in securing .

We collectively learnt how to tackle three major common challenges in the tourism sector:

✅ Reducing seasonality.
✅ Measuring tourism carbon footprint.
✅ Fostering tourism’s climate action.

"By working in networks, we can multiply our efforts and be part of the movement that rewrites tourism to fit today's challenges!"

Happy from NECSTouR Team led by Visit Flanders Presidency! 🇪🇺

Today we celebrate unity in Europe. At NECSTouR, the Community of European Regions for , we stress the importance of as a crucial driver for our society's well-being, an industry responsible for 27 million jobs.

🔹Regions play a crucial role in tourism
🔹The Tourism of Tomorrow will be Sustainable or will not be
🔹We cannot Manage what we cannot Measure
🔹A Better Place to Live is a Better Place to Visit
🔹Tourism can be part of the solution to Climate Change
..And for all these reasons, tourism must be at the core of the Policy & Funding!

🔹1 Year Anniversary of Tourism of Tomorrow Lab
🔹NECSTouR Climate Action Plan was published and presented at COP27.
🔹We won 2 EU-funded projects: Interreg Euro-MED Community4Tourism and European Data Space for Tourism (DATES).
🔹We welcomed 5 New Members to our Community: Turismo Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad de Madrid, Normandie Tourisme, Turismo Lanzarote and Anci Toscana
🔹Secretariat Team in has gained top-class players! Oyana Marius, Justine Bauters, Irene Paolinelli

Toerisme Vlaanderen takes the Presidency of NECSTouR.

After a six-year mandate of the Agència Catalana de Turisme / Catalan Tourist Board Presidency, Turismo Andaluz has taken the seat of the NECSTouR Presidency until March 2023. We are thankful for the solid leadership and actions Andalucia has taken and our former President, Yolanda de Aguilar.

From 1 April 2023, Peter De Wilde chairs NECSTouR. "The Flemish chairmanship of NECSTouR offers opportunities to spread our Flemish vision ‘Travel to Tomorrow' among European regions and at European and international levels, but also to explore opportunities to realise Flemish tourism projects by using European support mechanisms. Regions can play a key role in leading a 'smart' and sustainable approach to managing tourist destinations. NECSTouR has the necessary experience to support us in this," says the President of NECSTouR, CEO of Toerisme Vlaanderen - VISITFLANDERS Flanders, and CEO of Flanders Heritage Agency.

Sinds 1 april 2023 is Vlaanderen voorzitter van NECSTouR, een netwerk dat sinds 2007 meer dan 40 Europese regionale topbestemmingen verenigt.

Desde Emotur concluimos el encuentro con el consorcio del proyecto EuroEmotur .

Agradecemos la visita de la European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) y la de nuestros socios europeos Università Ca' Foscari Venezia , ETOA, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences y NECSTouR .

De igual forma, agradecemos la intervención del ilustrísimo rector de la ULPGC Luís Serra Majem y la de las turísticas que participaron en la discusión del consorcio con la industria local.

Queremos agradecer de manera muy especial a todo el equipo de Emotur y Euroemotur, quienes hicieron posible la realización del evento.

En Emotur, apreciamos la aportación hecha por cada persona vinculada al proyecto Euroemotur, quienes, a nuestro lado, trabajan por el mismo objetivo: promover la digitalización de las pymes turísticas europeas.

We are delighted that our Masterclass 'Empowering Destination Leaders to Deliver Sustainability' in , Turismo Lanzarote, has been covered in Travel Tomorrow media.

It's a wrap-up! We are very grateful for the participation of 18 regions from 8 European countries 🌎. We appreciate the open and honest discussions that you have been part of, which created concrete and meaningful synergies amongst the European Tourism Ecosystem.

Thank you to all participants, speakers and partners, for joining us at our Masterclass' Empowering Destination Leaders to Deliver Sustainability' from 14-16 March in Lanzarote 🏝️.

It was a pleasure to learn and discuss 💡 three common challenges collectively:

➡️Reducing seasonality
➡️Measuring tourism's carbon footprint
➡️Fostering tourism's climate action.
