With high amounts of foreign funding, there are chances of foreign interferences. Women’s rights and LGBTQI+ rights are at stake!

Samira Rafaela: "President Metsola must investigate radical ultraconservative anti-abortion, anti-gender lobbyists with strong transnational links. We can’t accept any undemocratic foreign interference in our institutions. And we need to be especially wary when the actors intend to roll back on citizens’ rights. This is why, together with my colleagues, we requested a Parliamentary investigation into specific organizations."

In the future, LGBTQI+ donors will be assessed on their individual risk behavior, rather than s*xual orientation. Germany currently differentiates between gay and heteros*xual men on the issue.

The German government pledged to end discrimination against men or trans women who have s*x with men and who wish to donate blood.

MEP Moritz Körner of the FDP praised the decision: "Finally! The discrimination against the LGBTQI+ community at blood donations has finally come to an end."

European Court of Human Rights delivers decision on obligation for Member States to recognise same-s*x partnerships.

Currently, six EU Member States do not provide any legal framework for such recognition: Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

Rainbow Platfrm ambassador Pierre Karleskind, Vice-President of the European Parliament Intergroup on LGBTI Rights, commented:

"Today, justice is done across the Council of Europe area. This Court judgement crystalises what the LGBTIQ community has revindicated for years: that their relationships deserve as much right to legal recognition (and protection) as any other couple. With this in mind, we will keep advocating for the remaining EU Member States to make steadfast progress at national level to respect and implement the Court’s interpretation."

An historic achievement was made in the Netherlands this week, as parliament passed a ruling this week enshrining gender identity and disability in the Dutch constitution by explicitly including it as a ground upon which discrimination is illegal.

This victory was made possible by the hard and inspiring work of Rainbow Platform Ambassador, Alexander Hammelburg of D66. A confirmation of dignity for all!

Living in Vienna and facing the challenges q***r people go through every day, Lukas Burian made the choice to run for office at the city council for NEOS Wien.

Rainbow flags being torn up at demonstrations; damaged q***r clubhouses; and attacks on transgender population. Burian detected a trend and chose to act to reverse it, to work for his community.

Rainbow Platform's newest Ambassador, Senator Fiona O'Loughlin was the first woman ever elected to the Dáil Constituency of Kildare South in Ireland in 2016.

Now as a senator for Fianna Fáil she is the spokesperson for Education in the Seanad and Chairperson of the Oireachtas women’s caucus.

Madrid rushes to the forefront of trans rights! The Spanish Parliament has passed a transgender rights bill allowing anyone aged 16 or over to change gender on their ID card without the need for medical evaluation.

It was approved by 188 votes for and 150 against, and now moves to the Senate for final approval. It would also allow children aged 12 to 16 to change gender with a judge’s approval when it becomes law in 2023.

⁠The law de-pathologises trans lives and guarantees trans people's rights and comes as the Scottish parliament backed a bill that would make it easier for people to change their legal gender.
