The EU-funded Horizon project is bringing the next generation of solar power closer to reality with thin-film perovskite solar cells. This technology could make solar panels more efficient, lower their carbon footprint and strengthen Europe’s ability to produce them at home.

And because perovskite cells can be lightweight and flexible, they could one day power everything from buildings to printers. 🖨️🔋

What exactly is biotechnology, and why does it matter to all of us?

Biotechnology uses living cells, biological systems or parts of them to develop things like medicines, vaccines, diagnostic tools and other healthcare solutions.

Much of this work happens long before we see the results in our everyday lives. But it can make a real difference: helping develop new treatments, improve diagnosis, respond to diseases where few options exist, and strengthen Europe’s ability to develop and produce the healthcare solutions we need.

🏥 The EU-funded UNITE Digital Health project aims to build an open, borderless European digital health innovation ecosystem, helping overcome fragmented systems and accelerate the uptake of new solutions.
UNITE has selected its first three digital health initiatives, focusing on challenges such as improving remote care for heart failure patients, enabling better use of neonatal care data and making medical imaging safer. Designed to work across borders, these projects are taking digital health innovation from pilot to real-world impact.
