The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Brussels wishes to inform the general public and the Liberian community that the Embassy will be closed on Monday, August 24, 2026, in observance of National Flag Day, a national holiday of the Republic of Liberia.

Normal consular and administrative services will resume on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

As we commemorate this important national occasion, the Embassy joins Liberians at home and abroad in honoring the Lone Star as an enduring symbol of our shared heritage, sovereignty, and collective aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous Liberia.

Liberia–Nigeria Relations | Courtesy Meeting in Brussels 🇱🇷🇳🇬

H.E. Ambassador J. Levi Demmah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, received H.E. Dr. Adeyemi Adebayo Emmanuel, the newly accredited Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Belgium and the European Union, during a courtesy meeting at the Embassy of Liberia in Brussels.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two Ambassadors to exchange views on strengthening the longstanding and fraternal relations between Liberia and Nigeria, while exploring greater cooperation and coordination on matters of mutual interest within the European Union and other multilateral frameworks.

Ambassador Demmah warmly welcomed Ambassador Emmanuel to Brussels and reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to deepening collaboration between the two sisterly West African nations.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to maintaining close diplomatic engagement and advancing the common interests of Liberia, Nigeria, and the wider West African region.

Yesterday, we bid farewell to Mr. Senve Darlington Tehmeh, Minister Counselor for Press and Public Affairs, as he concludes an impactful chapter of service at the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Brussels and embarks on his new assignment at the Embassy of Liberia in Paris.
Over the years, Mr. Tehmeh has served with dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment, making significant contributions to advancing Liberia's public diplomacy, strengthening our international partnerships, and enhancing the visibility of our nation across Europe.

🇱🇷🇧🇪 Celebrating Belgium's National Day

It was a distinct honor for H.E. Ambassador J. Levi Demmah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Belgium, to join fellow African Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in celebrating the National Day of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The occasion provided an excellent opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between Liberia and Belgium while engaging colleagues from across the African diplomatic community on issues of mutual interest, regional cooperation, and the continued strengthening of Africa–Europe relations.

Liberia remains committed to deepening its bilateral partnership with Belgium and working closely with fellow African missions to promote peace, sustainable development, economic cooperation, and shared prosperity.

We are pleased to announce that Hon. F. Sakila Nyumalin, Sr., Minister of Local Government of the Republic of Liberia, will travel to the Kingdom of Belgium to participate in the celebrations marking Liberia's 179th Independence Anniversary.

Minister Nyumalin has been invited to serve as Keynote Speaker at the Independence Day celebrations, which will be held in Antwerp, Belgium, from July 24–26, 2026.

The three-day celebration will bring together Liberians from across Europe in a spirit of unity, patriotism, and national pride. The program includes:

🇱🇷 Saturday, July 25: Liberia's 179th Independence Day Grand Ball.

Ambassador J. Levi Demmah Celebrates Liberian Artistic Excellence at the Opening of Fading Impressions Exhibition in Antwerp

H.E. Ambassador J. Levi Demmah, on yesterday attended the opening reception of Fading Impressions, an exhibition by acclaimed Liberian artist Jeremiah Teah, held at The Antwerp Pianist cultural residence in Antwerp.

The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, cultural leaders, artists, and friends of Liberia to celebrate the universal values of art, cultural dialogue, remembrance, and international friendship.

Upon arrival, Ambassador Demmah was warmly received by the management of The Antwerp Pianist and participated in a commemorative certificate-signing ceremony marking his official visit to the renowned cultural residence.

In his remarks, Ambassador Demmah commended Jeremiah Teah for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Liberian art and culture on the international stage. He noted that the exhibition reflects the transformative power of art to preserve memory, inspire reflection, and foster understanding among peoples of diverse backgrounds.

The Ambassador further emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international relations and promoting Liberia’s rich cultural heritage abroad. The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia to the Benelux Countries and the European Union is pleased to share that, following the Embassy's nomination, Mr. Julius Nyerere Gbowee, President of the Association of Liberian Students in Europe, successfully participated in an Expert-Level Course on the Climate–Environment–Security and Defence Nexus organized by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) under the auspices of the European External Action Service.

The course brought together civilian, military, and diplomatic professionals from across Europe and partner countries for practical, multi-stakeholder training focused on understanding and addressing the complex links between climate change, environmental degradation and exploitation, and their implications for international peace, security, and defense.

Mr. Gbowee's participation reflects the Embassy's continued commitment to supporting the professional development of Liberians and fostering meaningful engagement with European institutions in areas of strategic importance. Such opportunities contribute to strengthening Liberia's human capital while enhancing the country's capacity to address emerging global security challenges through international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Brussels was honored today to receive a courtesy visit from Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., Head of Liberia's ECOWAS Delegation and Ranking Member of the Liberian Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Senator Snowe was warmly welcomed by His Excellency J. Levi Demmah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Benelux Countries and the European Union.

Senator Snowe is currently in Brussels to participate in the High-Level Leadership Certification in Global Diplomacy 2026, organized by the Headway Institute of Strategic Alliance (HISA) from June 15–18, 2026.
The prestigious program brings together leaders, policymakers, and global practitioners for high-level discussions, diplomacy and negotiation simulations, leadership development, international cooperation, and strategic engagement. His participation is in recognition of his distinguished commitment to public service and global collaboration.
The visit also provided an opportunity for productive discussions on Liberia's diplomatic engagement with the European Union, regional cooperation within ECOWAS, and strengthening partnerships that advance Liberia's national interests.

Ambassador J. Levi Demmah Meets with Chairperson of the DEİK Türkiye–Liberia Business Council to Strengthen Economic Cooperation
Brussels, Belgium.

H.E. J. Levi Demmah , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Belgium, today held a productive meeting with Mr. Semih Fermanlı, Chairperson of the DEİK Türkiye–Liberia Business Council, to discuss opportunities for expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Liberia and the Republic of Türkiye.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on the current state of Liberia–Türkiye economic relations, identify priority sectors for collaboration, and explore practical mechanisms for strengthening engagement between the private sectors of the two countries.
Ambassador Demmah welcomed DEİK's growing interest in Liberia and acknowledged the organization's efforts to promote international business partnerships through its extensive global network. He also noted DEİK's previous engagement in Liberia and emphasized the importance of sustained business-to-business cooperation in advancing mutual economic objectives.
During the discussions, Ambassador Demmah highlighted the significant momentum generated by the recently concluded Liberia–European Union Business Forum, which successfully brought together government officials, development partners, investors, and private-sector leaders to showcase Liberia's investment potential and strengthen international commercial partnerships. He noted that the objectives of the Business Forum closely align with the aspirations of the Liberia–Türkiye economic partnership, particularly in promoting investment, facilitating trade, and creating opportunities for private-sector collaboration.
The Ambassador underscored Liberia's commitment to fostering a favorable investment climate and outlined opportunities in key sectors including agriculture, mining, energy, infrastructure development, manufacturing, logistics, and value addition. He encouraged greater participation by Turkish companies in Liberia's ongoing economic transformation and development agenda.
Mr. Fermanlı reaffirmed DEİK's commitment to supporting stronger economic ties between Liberia and Türkiye and expressed the Business Council's interest in facilitating closer cooperation between businesses in both countries. He emphasized the Council's readiness to serve as a platform for promoting commercial partnerships, investment opportunities, and increased trade flows.
Both sides agreed that the meeting represented an important step toward deepening economic relations between Liberia and Türkiye and expressed their commitment to maintaining regular engagement aimed at translating identified opportunities into concrete partnerships and mutually beneficial projects.
The Embassy of Liberia looks forward to continued collaboration with DEİK and the Turkish private sector as part of broader efforts to attract investment, promote sustainable economic growth, and strengthen bilateral relations between Liberia and Türkiye.
