YEPP The Youth of the European People's Party is the largest alliance of young politicians in Europe.
(261)

We stand for the fundamental values of the European centre-right and we fight for a stronger voice of the organised and non-organised youth of the continent. Through campaigning for the issues that matter to young Europeans, we are bringing change in the EU and national politics.

The Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP) strongly condemns the coordinated firebomb attacks targeting members of New Democracy in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The attacks targeted the homes of New Democracy candidate Aphrodite Nestora, Chairman of the New Democracy Thessaloniki Branch Zisis Ioakeimovits, and former Member of Parliament Savvas Anastasiadis.

We mourn the tragic loss of Vagia Nestora, mother of Aphrodite Nestora, and extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. We also wish a full and speedy recovery to those injured.

Political violence and terrorism have no place in any democratic society. Attacks aimed at intimidating elected representatives, political candidates and party members are an assault on democracy itself and must be unequivocally condemned.

YEPP stands in full solidarity with its member organisation ONNED and with New Democracy during this difficult time. We trust that those responsible will be swiftly identified and brought to justice.

🇪🇺 A major step forward for air passengers in Europe.

The European Parliament and the Council have reached a landmark agreement to strengthen EU air passenger rights, improving protections for travellers while making rules clearer and easier to enforce across the Union.

Throughout the negotiations, YEPP President and MEP Sophia Kircher has been a strong advocate for preserving and strengthening passenger rights, ensuring that European travellers remain protected when flights are delayed, cancelled, or disrupted. In her words: “Parliament successfully stood up for air passengers as Member States pushed to weaken the rules.”

Key measures include:

✈️ No extra charges for parents to sit with their children
🧳 Greater transparency on baggage included in ticket prices
💶 Compensation of €250–€600 preserved for delays and cancellations of 3+ hours
📋 Easier compensation claims and better information on passenger rights

The agreement now awaits formal adoption by both institutions.

YEPP celebrates this agreement as an important step towards ensuring that passengers remain protected when flights are delayed, cancelled, or disrupted.

💥 What does it take to empower the next generation of women leaders?

Over the past week, 30 participants from across Europe and beyond joined YEPP in Madrid for the Women, Leadership, Politics Camp. 💪

Through exchanges with policymakers, institutional representatives, and experts, participants explored topics ranging from gender equality and democratic participation to artificial intelligence, political communication, and public leadership.

A huge thank you to the Council of Europe and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) for making this programme possible, and to all our speakers for sharing their experience and insights.

And finally, a special thank you to our participants. Your curiosity, enthusiasm, thoughtful contributions, and willingness to engage made this programme truly special. We hope you return home with new ideas, new connections, and the confidence to continue driving positive change in your communities. ✨
