🇪🇺 A major step forward for air passengers in Europe.

The European Parliament and the Council have reached a landmark agreement to strengthen EU air passenger rights, improving protections for travellers while making rules clearer and easier to enforce across the Union.

Throughout the negotiations, YEPP President and MEP Sophia Kircher has been a strong advocate for preserving and strengthening passenger rights, ensuring that European travellers remain protected when flights are delayed, cancelled, or disrupted. In her words: “Parliament successfully stood up for air passengers as Member States pushed to weaken the rules.”

Key measures include:

✈️ No extra charges for parents to sit with their children
🧳 Greater transparency on baggage included in ticket prices
💶 Compensation of €250–€600 preserved for delays and cancellations of 3+ hours
📋 Easier compensation claims and better information on passenger rights

The agreement now awaits formal adoption by both institutions.

YEPP celebrates this agreement as an important step towards ensuring that passengers remain protected when flights are delayed, cancelled, or disrupted.

💥 What does it take to empower the next generation of women leaders?

Over the past week, 30 participants from across Europe and beyond joined YEPP in Madrid for the Women, Leadership, Politics Camp. 💪

Through exchanges with policymakers, institutional representatives, and experts, participants explored topics ranging from gender equality and democratic participation to artificial intelligence, political communication, and public leadership.

A huge thank you to the Council of Europe and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) for making this programme possible, and to all our speakers for sharing their experience and insights.

And finally, a special thank you to our participants. Your curiosity, enthusiasm, thoughtful contributions, and willingness to engage made this programme truly special. We hope you return home with new ideas, new connections, and the confidence to continue driving positive change in your communities. ✨

From 7–10 May, YEPP took part in the General Assembly of the European Youth Forum in Tromsø, European Youth Capital 2026 🇪🇺.

Bringing together national youth councils and international youth organisations from across Europe, the Assembly was an important moment to strengthen cooperation, exchange ideas, and shape the future of youth policy together. YEPP was proudly represented through its board members, with Žiga Ciglarič and Max Spachta.

We are especially proud that Žiga Ciglarič was elected to the Consultative Body on Membership Applications (CBMA). This is an important recognition of YEPP’s active role within the wider European youth family.

At YEPP, we strongly believe in working together across political families to build a stronger, freer, and more united Europe for the next generation. 🤝🇪🇺

💪 Mental health is Europe's health.

At our last Council Meeting in Dublin, YEPP adopted a resolution on mental health as a catalyst for European competitiveness, proposed by Junge Mitte Ostbelgien.

Mental health should not be a luxury. It's the foundation of a thriving society, and it's time Europe treats it that way.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, read our full resolution and find out more at youthepp.eu 🔗

Big energy in Dublin! 🇮🇪

Last weekend, YEPP brought together over 80 delegates from 31 countries for our Council Meeting hosted by , the largest centre right youth gathering in Ireland in over a decade.

Across three days, we debated ideas and policies on how to get Europe’s economy growing again.

We were honoured to hear from leaders including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence , former Taoiseach , EPP Vice President , and other key voices shaping Europe.

A very special highlight was the Keynote address given by the Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Leader of Fine Gael, . Mr. Harris’s intervention couldn’t have been more relevant to the topic 🙌🏻.

Strong discussions, fresh perspectives, and real momentum for a stronger Europe 💡

Thank you to everyone who made it happen! ☘️
