Yesterday, we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration that sparked our European journey. Three-quarters of a century later, its vision guides our federalist mission: a united, democratic Europe where borders unite rather than divide.

Standing here in Brussels, I feel the weight of history and possibility. 75 years ago today, Schuman sparked a revolution with simple words and bold vision.

As a young federalist, I ask myself: What would our founders think of today's Europe? And what will we build in the next 75?

This isn't just our history, it's our personal responsibility.

Hier, nous avons célébré le 75e anniversaire de la Déclaration Schuman, qui a lancé notre aventure européenne. Trois quarts de siècle plus t**d, sa vision continue d’inspirer notre mission fédéraliste : une Europe unie, démocratique, où les frontières rassemblent au lieu de diviser.

Debout ici à Bruxelles, je ressens le poids de l’histoire et des possibles. Il y a 75 ans, Schuman lançait une révolution avec des mots simples et une vision audacieuse.

En tant que jeune fédéraliste, je me demande : que penseraient nos fondateurs de l’Europe d’aujourd’hui ? Et que construirons-nous dans les 75 prochaines années ?

Ce n’est pas seulement notre histoire, c’est notre responsabilité.

Gisteren vierden we de 75ste verjaardag van de Schumanverklaring, het startpunt van onze Europese reis. Driekwart eeuw later blijft zijn visie onze federalistische missie inspireren: een verenigd, democratisch Europa waar grenzen verbinden in plaats van verdelen.

Hier in Brussel voel ik het gewicht van de geschiedenis en de mogelijkheden. 75 jaar geleden bracht Schuman met eenvoudige woorden en een gedurfde visie een revolutie op gang.

Als jonge federalist stel ik mezelf de vraag: wat zouden onze grondleggers denken van het Europa van vandaag? En wat zullen wij bouwen in de komende 75 jaar?

Dit is niet alleen onze geschiedenis, het is onze persoonlijke verantwoordelijkheid.

Aujourd’hui, nous honorons la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et la naissance de notre rêve européen. De l'obscurité est née l'unité. En tant que jeunes fédéralistes, nous ne faisons pas que commémorer l’histoire, nous la prolongeons, pour construire ensemble un avenir pacifique pour l’Europe.

Vandaag eren we het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de geboorte van onze Europese droom. Uit de duisternis kwam eenheid. Als jonge federalisten herdenken we niet alleen de geschiedenis, we bouwen erop voort, om samen een vreedzame toekomst voor Europa te verzekeren.

106 years ago, on November 11, 1918, the armistice was signed, bringing an end to the First World War. Today, we honor the soldiers who gave their lives for their country and the civilians who tragically lost theirs. May we remember the lessons of this devastating conflict and never repeat the mistakes of the past.

Il y a 106 ans, le 11 novembre 1918, l’armistice était signé, mettant fin à la Première Guerre mondiale. Aujourd’hui, nous rendons hommage aux soldats qui ont donné leur vie et aux civils qui ont tragiquement perdu la leur. Puissions nous nous souvenir des leçons de ce conflit dévastateur et ne jamais répéter les erreurs du passé.

106 jaar geleden, op 11 november 1918, werd de wapenstilstand getekend, waarmee een einde kwam aan de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Vandaag eren we de soldaten die hun leven gaven voor hun land en de burgers die op tragische wijze hun leven verloren. Mogen we de lessen van dit verwoestende conflict onthouden en nooit de fouten uit het verleden herhalen.

The re-election of Donald Trump is a clear sign that we must wake up, the salutary shock needed to wake Europe up. We must unite now; our future depends on it. Remaining dependent on the U.S. or retreating into narrow nationalism will only put us at greater risk. More than ever, European Federation is our only solution!

La réélection de Donald Trump est un signe clair que nous devons nous réveiller, le choc salutaire nécessaire au réveil de l'Europe. Nous devons nous unir maintenant, notre avenir en dépend. We moeten ons nu verenigen; onze toekomst hangt ervan af. Afhankelijk blijven van de VS of ons terugtrekken in bekrompen nationalisme zal ons alleen maar meer in gevaar brengen. Meer dan ooit is een Europese Federatie onze enige oplossing!

My name is Daniel Schäfer and I have been living in Belgium for almost 2 years. I am currently part of the board and help with many administrative issues.
I joined JEF in 2016 because BREXIT showed me that the European project is not something that happens by itself and needs our attention. Especially in the last two years it has become more and more clear that we have to fight for a free and democratic European community against enemies from outside and inside. JEF has to be a platform to bring together young politically active people from different parties and to show governments all over Europe that youth policy is important.

Je m’appelle Daniel Schäfer et je vis en Belgique depuis presque 2 ans. Je fais actuellement partie du conseil d’administration et j’aide à résoudre de nombreuses questions administratives.
J’ai rejoint JEF en 2016 parce que le BREXIT m’a montré que le projet européen est quelque chose qui nécessite notre attention. Ces deux dernières années, il est devenu de plus en plus évident que nous devons lutter pour une communauté européenne libre et démocratique contre des ennemis de l’extérieur et de l’intérieur. JEF doit être une plateforme pour rassembler des jeunes politiquement actifs de différents partis et montrer aux gouvernements de toute l’Europe que les projets de la jeunesse sont importantes.

Mijn naam is Daniel Schäfer en ik woon al bijna 2 jaar in België. Momenteel zit ik in het bestuur en help ik met veel administratieve zaken.
Ik kwam in 2016 bij JEF omdat BREXIT mij liet zien dat het Europese project niet iets is dat vanzelf gebeurt en onze aandacht nodig heeft. Vooral de laatste twee jaar is het steeds duidelijker geworden dat we moeten strijden voor een vrije en democratische Europese gemeenschap, tegen vijanden van buitenaf en van binnenuit. JEF moet een platform zijn om jonge politiek actieve mensen van verschillende partijen samen te brengen en regeringen in heel Europa te laten zien dat jeugdbeleid belangrijk is.
