We are there to make your voice heard!

We are the interpreters of the European Parliament, facilitating parliamentary debate in all the 24 official languages of the EU. The European Parliament is a bastion of multilingual democracy and our team of highly skilled conference interpreters supports the democratic legitimacy of the House by enabling all elected representatives to speak the language of their choice and by bringing the debate to the citizen in their own language.

In October, the European Parliament holds two plenary sessions – and the first one is about to start. Many colleagues are busy preparing the debates, votes and high-level visits taking place over these four days in Strasbourg. Interpreters, ushers and conference technicians are also getting ready to make sure everything runs smoothly – and every voice is heard in up to 24 languages.

Here’s a look at some of the topics on this week’s agenda.

A big shout-out to everyone who contributed to the success of the European Youth Event hashtag last weekend in Strasbourg!

Our volunteering and hard-working DG LINC colleagues were inspired by the positive energy, genuine interest and commitment to democracy and dialogue of over 9000 young participants.

🤩 Thousands of participants visited our stand co-hosted with the European Parliament Translation Service, getting temporary language-themed tattoos and chatting about career opportunities at the European Parliament.

🥵 Despite the heat wave leading to record temperatures in our mobile interpreting booths, over 600 participants tried interpreting with our volunteers and many more listened in.

🤵 Ushers ensured safe and smooth operations in the hemicycle and gave an insightful behind-the-scenes tour to participants.

🗨️ Colleagues hosted well-attended workshops on language careers, protocol, multilingualism and note-taking.

🔧 DG LINC technicians worked tirelessly behind the scenes, also setting up our stand and mobile interpreting booths.

During this week's plenary session in Strasbourg, our team of interpreters, ushers and conference technicians is gearing up to make sure that every single voting or meeting runs as smoothly as possible.

This session’s priorities include outlining the next EU long-term budget (2028-2034), responding to US tariffs, working towards a just and comprehensive peace in Ukraine, and discussing the CO2 emission standards for new cars.
