Одеса: ЮНЕСКО засуджує чергову атаку на об’єкт Світової спадщини

У контексті ескалації війни в Україні, що триває внаслідок вторгнення Російської Федерації, ЮНЕСКО засуджує атаку на Одесу 9 серпня 2026 року, внаслідок якої, за наявною інформацією, було пошкоджено шість будівель культурної спадщини, розташованих у межах об’єкта Світової спадщини «Історичний центр Одеси».

Повідомляється, що внаслідок атаки було пошкоджено будинок Брандта і Шульца, прибутковий будинок Гагаріна, будинок Стурдзи, прибутковий будинок Россі та ще дві історичні житлові будівлі. Історичний центр Одеси є важливим свідченням багатої архітектурної та культурної спадщини міста. У 2023 році його було внесено до Списку всесвітньої спадщини ЮНЕСКО та одночасно до Списку всесвітньої спадщини, що перебуває під загрозою.

ЮНЕСКО засуджує атаки на культурні цінності, заклади освіти, учнів і студентів, працівників освіти та представників медіа, які перебувають під захистом міжнародного права. Такі атаки позбавляють громади доступу до культури, освіти та спільних просторів, що мають важливе значення для відновлення та соціальної згуртованості.

Генеральний директор ЮНЕСКО Халед Ель-Енані наразі перебуває з візитом в Україні, щоб підтвердити відданість ЮНЕСКО підтримці країни та її зусиль із відновлення в межах мандату Організації.

During his first official visit to Ukraine, UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and members of the Ukrainian Government to review UNESCO’s activities across education, culture, science, communication and information and discuss priorities for further cooperation.

Working closely with national authorities and international partners, UNESCO is responding to urgent needs in , while contributing to longer-term recovery and reconstruction. Its activities range across the mandate of the Organization, from advancing digital learning and providing psychosocial assistance to enhancing the safety of journalists, preserving its rich heritage, strengthening the governance of heritage institutions, investing in the skills and the continuity of work of cultural professionals, as well as researchers and scientists.

In Syria, safeguarding cultural heritage is essential to supporting long-term recovery

At The National Museum Of Damascus - كنوز متحف دمشق الوطني, UNESCO is working to preserve evacuated objects from the Museums of Aleppo and Palmyra, restore and digitize documentary heritage, and strengthen the skills of Syrian heritage experts and museum professionals with the support of Germany.

These actions are part of UNESCO’s broader Action Plan for Syria, which also supports UNESCO’s emergency response alongside other partners, including Italy, Japan and ALIPH Foundation.

Implemented hand in hand with Syrian institutions, these efforts strengthen resilience and support the country’s recovery through culture, education, and knowledge-sharing.
