Are you Maltese living abroad and would like to learn or improve your Maltese?

The Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Employability within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Directorate for Consular Services and Maltese Living Abroad, within the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, is inviting applications for Maltese as a Foreign Language courses (MQF Levels 1 & 2).

Maltese as a Foreign Language – MQF Level 1 (beginners)
Maltese as a Foreign Language – MQF Level 2 (improvers)
🗓 Course period: June – mid‑September 2026 (28 lessons)

As Head of Malta's Mission to NATO, Ambassador Giovanni Xuereb had the privilege of welcoming the Head of Mission of Ukraine to NATO Alyona Getmanchuk at the Embassy in Brussels. They discussed the ongoing War in Ukraine as well as Malta’s and Ukraine’s respective relationships with the Alliance whilst reaffirming shared commitment to peace, security, and solidarity. As a neutral country, Malta engages with NATO through partnership and dialogue.

Malta also stands firmly for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, advocating for international law and peaceful solutions to conflict. This engagement highlights Malta’s role as a bridge-builder and its commitment to shared values of peace and cooperation.

Earlier this month, Ambassador Vanni Xuereb had the distinct honour of representing Malta at the accession to the throne of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg.

The solemn occasion began with the abdication of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri at the Grand Ducal Palace, followed by the swearing-in of Grand Duke Guillaume at the Chamber of Deputies.

Malta and Luxembourg share enduring bilateral relations, rooted in common European values and mutual respect.

On this auspicious occasion, Ambassador Xuereb conveyed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the President, the Government, and the People of Malta to Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie.

Ambassador Xuereb had the honour of joining fellow EU Heads of Mission for a working lunch hosted by the Danish Ambassador to Luxembourg, with the participation of Luxembourg’s Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes.

The conversation focused on shared environmental priorities, the advancement of sustainable policies, and the importance of deepening cooperation across the European Union to address climate challenges collectively.

These exchanges are vital for shaping a greener, more resilient Europe for generations to come.

Grateful to our Danish colleagues for their warm hospitality and to Minister Wilmes for his insightful and constructive engagement.
