Mello Cello, sweet and low.

[NL] Waarom luisteren we zo graag naar de klank van een cello? Volgens deze song uit 1921 is dat niet vanwege de muziek zelf, maar draait alles om de liefde. ‘Mello Cello, zoet en zacht, in de milde gloed van de manestraal, zing en breng mijn geliefde naar me toe’.

[NL] Wij zijn geen museum, maar delen wel dezelfde doelstellingen op het vlak van maatschappelijke dienstverlening en erfgoedbeheer. Daarom zetten we op deze Internationale Museumdag graag een paar museale objecten uit onze collectie in de kijker.”

Today Firefighters’ Day

[NL] Muziek kan niet blussen, maar wel verbinden en bedanken. Drie partituren met één boodschap: een hartelijke dankjewel aan de brandweer.

Ontdek de tentoonstelling "Humor in muziek" tijdens Erfgoeddag! 🎶

Wandel vrij rond, volg een rondleiding of ga op speelse zoektocht langs grappige cartoons van bekende muzikanten en componisten.
Voor jong én jong van hart, met leuke opdrachten en een beloning.

Ook tijdens onze concerten op Erfgoeddag is het lachen geblazen. De studenten Zang en Musical brengen een gevarieerd en luchtig programma.

Atys, a remake of Louis XIV most favorite opera.

[NL] Heel recent is onze collectie libretti uitgebreid met ‘Atys’. Deze opera is vooral bekend in de versie van Lully uit 1676, maar dit libretto dateert uit 1780 en werd gecomponeerd door Niccolò Piccini (1728-1800). Hij was door koningin Marie-Antoinette gecontacteerd om de oude versie aan te passen aan de smaak van de tijd. De handgeschreven annotatie blijkt inderdaad correct: het libretto is gebaseerd op dat van Quinault uit 1676, maar is “geretoucheerd” door Marmontel.

[EN] Our collection of libretti has very recently been expanded to include ‘Atys’. This opera is best known in Lully’s 1676 version, but this libretto dates from 1780 and was composed by Niccolò Piccini (1728–1800). He had been approached by Queen Marie-Antoinette to adapt the old version to the tastes of the time. The handwritten annotation proves to be correct: the libretto is based on Quinault’s 1676 version, but has been ‘revised’ by Marmontel.
