New European Bauhaus Prizes Open to Projects from Brazil and Japan!

This year brings an exciting new development, for the first time, the New European BauhausPrizes introduces a dedicated international special prize, welcoming innovative projects from Brazil and Japan that embody the values of beauty, sustainability, and inclusion at the heart of the initiative.

🏆 Two NEB International Prizes will be awarded (one in each country) with winners receiving €20,000 and runners-up €5,000.

The call is open to projects that:
- Exemplify the NEB values and working principles in an exemplary manner
- Demonstrate strong potential for transferability to other contexts
- Inspire transformation across the built environment

All winners and finalists will be featured on the NEB Prizes platform and invited to the official award ceremony in autumn 2026.

📅 Deadline for submissions (extended for international applicants): 29 March 2026 at 19:00 CET.

After a short pause following the conclusion of the previous phase, the Cultural Relations Platform has officially entered a new chapter!

Launched a few weeks ago in its renewed and scaled-up format, the Platform now continues its work through a new constellation bringing together GOPA PACE and So Cult, in close collaboration with the European Union and partners worldwide.

This new phase comes with expanded resources, increased ambition, and a stronger capacity to support international cultural relations. This will enable the Platform to accompany more initiatives, mobilise expertise, and support cultural cooperation across regions.

The Cultural Relations Platform will also engage in fragile contexts, where culture can foster dialogue, resilience and mutual understanding across societies.

Activities are now starting to unfold, and the coming months will bring new partnerships, exchanges and initiatives connecting cultural and creative sectors globally.

💫Looking forward to 12 December 2025 where the results of the Audience Awards will be compiled and announced at the EU-Vietnam Sustainable Design Awards 2025 Award Ceremony in Hanoi!

😊 It's been a great journey. Initiated by European Union in Vietnam, implemented in partnership with ELLE Decoration Vietnam, realised in partnership with and funded by the EU’s Cultural Relations Platform initiative, the first phase of the EU-Vietnam Sustainable Design Awards project consists of a series of events and activities between September 2024 and spring 2025, culminating in the inauguration of the Awards in mid-2025. Thereafter, the second phase of the project is the long-run organisation of the EVSDA on an annual basis.

We’re excited to launch the first call for applications for the Visual Arts Residency Program under the Transatlantic Rising Stars Project. 🎨

We welcome applications from talented artists seeking to take part in eight-week residencies across the United States.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to live and work in local communities across the US, collaborate with American peers, and share their practice with new audiences. Artists will be offered rich community engagement opportunities and connections with American cultural networks. 🎨✨ What a memorable evening!

On 10 October, at the Jorge Sampaio Cultural Centre in Dili, we officially launched “Kokorek: Timor‑Leste Art - From Creative Practice to Cultural Product”. The exhibition features original artworks, prototypes and product concepts developed by Timorese visual artists during our July workshop, each reflecting deep creative research and cultural identity.

This exhibition remains open until 17 October 2025, and we invite everyone to visits and experience the work ideas and voices of Timorese artists.

🗣️ A heartfelt thank you to the Timorese artists for the commitment and trust in sharing your work; to União Europeia em Timor-Leste for their support; to the Portuguese Embassy for hosting us — and to our excellent coordination partners at Even2u for making it all run smoothly.

🎬 EU-Japan Animation Residency Showcase

On 26 September 3pm JST (8AM CEST), the EU Pavilion will host a public showcase presenting the creative outcomes of the EU-Japan Animation Residency.
Visitors to the EU Pavillion will discover the final animation clips from the ten participating artists, along with behind-the-scenes videos and photos from the Residency held in Kansai and Annecy.

Three of the artists — Sumito Sakakibara, Baku Hashimoto, and Sander Joon — will be present in person, together with co-curator Koyo Yamash*ta, to share insights into their creative journeys.
