📢 Resilience is about more than security and defence. It means building a Europe that can withstand any challenge!

A resilient Europe invests in its security, future-proofs its economy, accelerates energy independence, and keeps markets open and innovative. It means standing up for democracy, strengthening our Union, and ensuring that no one is left behind. 🇪🇺💡

Because true European resilience isn’t just about withstanding crises. It’s about creating a better, more free and more secure future for all. 🫵

📞 Allo, European Union? Can we be finally connected?🇪🇺

After years of delays, vetoes, and political blockades, the line is finally opening for Ukraine and Moldova. Europe cannot keep brave democracies waiting on hold forever.

The people of Kyiv and Chișinău have chosen the European paththrough courage, sacrifice, and hope. Now it is Europe’s turn to answer clearly.

At LYMEC, we already welcomes Ukraine and Moldova to our European Family with our Members. And we think it is about due time that the European Union does the same.

Us liberals have known for a long time: The future of Europe includes Ukraine and Moldova. 💙💛❤️💛💙

Last night’s Russian drone strike in Galați, Romania marks yet another unacceptable violation of NATO airspace and another direct threat to the safety and security of European citizens. LYMEC stands firmly with our friends and colleagues in Romania at this difficult time and expresses its full solidarity with all those affected.

This shameful incident once again demonstrates that Putin’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine is not confined within Ukraine’s borders. Russia’s actions are increasingly impacting the wider European continent and directly endangering NATO member states. The reality is clear: Europe is already intrinsically involved in this conflict, whether some leaders are willing to admit it or not.

The frontline lies in Ukraine, where Ukrainians fight every day for their safety and freedom. But we have to state: the threat extends across all of Europe. Continued hesitation, caution, and half-measures from European governments and institutions only embolden further Russian aggression and place European security at even greater risk.

LYMEC therefore calls on NATO, its European Member States, and the European institutions to respond swiftly and decisively. Europe must significantly strengthen its military, financial, and political support for Ukraine, increase the protection of NATO’s eastern flank, and make clear that repeated violations of allied territory will be sanctioned further.

As Russia’s full-scale invasion enters its fifth year, Europe’s resolve is being tested. But our commitment to defending liberal democracy, protecting innocent civilians, and upholding the values of freedom and sovereignty must remain absolute.

Supporting Ukraine with everything we have is not only a moral obligation. It is essential for the security and future of Europe itself.

Türkiye is witnessing a dangerous collapse of democratic norms in real time, and our members are suffering through it.

Following the deeply controversial court ruling on May 21st that removed democratically elected CHP leader Özgür Özel, the situation has now escalated into open repression against opposition voices and democratic institutions. Riot police stormed CHP headquarters using tear gas, rubber bullets, and disproportionate force against those inside, while openly disregarding the parliamentary immunity of opposition MPs.
Among those subjected to this violence were members of 3H, our Member Organisation from Türkiye.

Let this be absolutely clear: Peaceful political opposition is not a crime. Defending democracy is not extremism. Silencing dissent through force is authoritarianism.

We call on European authorities, institutions, and democratic governments to stop treating these events as routine political tensions. This is a serious attack on democracy, rule of law, and fundamental freedoms. Europe must respond with urgency. Safe relocation pathways and support mechanisms must be available for those at risk.

LYMEC stands in solidarity with all activists, journalists, students, elected representatives, and citizens in Türkiye facing intimidation and violence for defending democratic values. We are anxiously awaiting updates from our Members on the ground, and ask of you to show your support in this time.

Russia once again showed the world exactly what it is.

Hundreds of drones. Ballistic missiles. Civilian neighborhoods turned into brutal targets. There are truly no words for the losses families had to endure again this weekend.

But one thing must be said:
The use of the Oreshnik missile against Ukraine was not “strategy.” It was terror, that does not stop. So let’s stop sanitizing this with diplomatic language and condolences ‼️

A state that repeatedly bombs civilians, destroys homes, targets cities, weaponizes fear, and threatens the world with nuclear-capable missiles is not acting like a normal country. Russia is acting like a terrorist state.

💫 Pride begins today not just as a celebration, but as a reminder: visibility means nothing without solidarity. Allyship matters because q***r people should not have to fight alone for safety, dignity, joy, and the right to exist openly.

Being an ally is more than waving a rainbow flag once a year. It’s speaking up when silence is easier. It’s protecting people when hate gets louder. It’s making room for others to live fully and unapologetically.

In a world that still debates people’s humanity, choosing empathy is the best path forward. Choosing respect is powerful. Choosing to stand beside q***r communities changes lives.

So as Pride kicks off in Brussels today:
show up for your friends, defend people’s right to be themselves, and remember: Allyship is action, not aesthetics. 🌈

Happy Pride Season to us all! 🫶
