From 22 November to 1 December, HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium will lead a Belgian Economic Mission to Brazil. She will be accompanied by HE DIEPENDAELE, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders and Flemish Minister for Economy, Innovation & Industry, Foreign Affairs, Digitisation and Facility Management and HE -Yves JEHOLET, Vice-President of the Walloon Government, Minister of Economy, Industry, Employment, Training and Foreign Trade.

This Mission is organised by the BFTA in collaboration with the Embaixada da Bélgica - Brasil, Diplomatie.Belgium and the regional foreign trade institutions: hub.brussels, Flanders Investment & Trade - FIT and Wallonia and will focus on , and life sciences, technology: renewable energy and clean tech, and infrastructure, technology/fintech, and the and entertainment sector.

Brazil will host COP30 in 2025 in Belém, at the gateway to the Amazonia. It will be a unique opportunity to showcase its efforts towards a low-carbon economy in line with the Paris Agreement. With an exceptional environment, through wind energy, solar power, green hydrogen, and especially hydropower, Brazil already produces 80% of its electricity from renewable energy sources.

In exaclty 1 month, a high-level economic mission led by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium will head for Brazil from 22 November to 1 December 2024. Senior Belgian Ministers will accompany the Princess. The 400-strong Belgian delegation includes 300 leading businessmen, 23 academic representatives as well as high ranking officials of the country. The delegation will visit Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Official meetings with the Governors of both States are on the agenda. Sustainable agriculture, industrial bioeconomy, port development, sustainable trade in food and drinks, energy transition, climate and health are the main focuses of the mission. It is expected that major business agreements and MoU will be signed during the mission or result from it. Trade relations between Brazil and Belgium will undoubtedly be given a strong boost thanks to the mission.
