Happy to see that this film was created in collaboration with 🇧🇬 Bulgarian studios.

This film is about miners in a fictitious Georgian mining town that believe there's a saint among them.

1977 - Nona Gaprindashvili Makes History at Lone Pine

In June 1977, Women's World Champion Nona Gaprindashvili achieved a groundbreaking feat at the Louis D. Statham International Tournament in Lone Pine. Not only did she tie for 1st place, marking the first instance of a woman winning a "men's" tournament, but she also earned a GM norm. The event, notable for having 4 joint winners (the others being Yuri Balashov, Dragutin Sahovic and Oscar Panno) and witnessing a woman share the top of the scorecard, showcased Gaprindashvili's remarkable skill and made a significant mark in chess history.

It was a pleasure to see him talk about Georgian traditions and culture as well as the upcoming exhibition titled "Georgia Homeland of Wine" opening in Crystal Garden in November 27.
