Финландският вътрешен министър Мари Рантанен подкрепи предложението на Италия Испания да бъде изключена от Шенгенското пространство заради мигрантската криза в Сеута. По думите ѝ Мадрид се е провалил в контрола на външната граница на Европейския съюз.

Германия зае по-умерена позиция. Канцлерът Фридрих Мерц призова Мароко незабавно да приеме обратно мигрантите и изрази увереност, че Испания ще възстанови контрола над ситуацията.

Нидерландия и Швеция също настояха Мадрид да действа бързо, докато крайнодесни партии в няколко европейски държави поискаха затваряне на границите и изключване на Испания от Шенген.

A Bulgarian courier has been jailed for 12 years after attempting to smuggle dozens of fully functional, lethal handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition into the UK. ⚖️

Petar Petrov was stopped by Border Force officers at Dover’s Eastern Docks as he arrived in the UK in a rented Mercedes Sprinter van.

A routine scan of the vehicle quickly revealed anomalies underneath and at the rear.

Officers searched the van and discovered 24 pistols packed into a spare tyre under the vehicle.

They then uncovered a further 30 handguns hidden inside a second tyre at the back of the van.

Every single one of the 54 handguns was found with a loaded magazine ready to go.

Testing later confirmed that while the weapons were counterfeit, they were fully functional and lethal.

Alongside the fi****ms, inspectors pulled 764 rounds of 9mm ammunition out of the concealment.

The 57-year-old from Varna was also carrying a black lock knife in a holdall and another knife inside the glove box.

Investigators recovered €1,000 in cash from the vehicle, which they believe was part payment for the smuggling run.

He made no comment to National Crime Agency officers during his formal interview.

National Crime Agency senior investigating officer Tracey Gasson said the organised crime group behind the smuggling attempt lost a trusted courier and a big pay day.

He was convicted at Canterbury Crown Court on July 10 of smuggling fi****ms and ammunition.

The courier has now been sentenced to 12 years in prison following the Friday hearing.
